Honours in Criminology is an intensive year-long program that enables students to research a topic they are passionate about.
Entry Requirements

1. Admission to candidature shall be determined by the Head of School on the recommendation of the Course Coordinator.

2. Excepts as provided in Rule 3, a candidate for admission to the honours course shall have:

(a) satisfied all requirements of an AQF level 7:
(i) Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology or Bachelor of Criminology from the University of New England;
or

(ii) Bachelor of Criminology in the Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England;
and

(b) achieved a grade point average of 5.0 (Credit);
and

(c) attained at least Distinction standard in 12 credit points at 300 level in Criminology and CRIM244 or equivalent;
and

(d) passed units to the value of at least 48 credit points in the subject in which the candidate wishes to proceed;
and

(e) have fulfilled any additional requirements prescribed and published by the School or area concerned;

3. With the approval of the Head of School a person who has fulfilled the requirements of an equivalent AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification of a university or other institution and who meets requirements considered by the school to be equivalent to those specified in Rule 2(b), (c), (d) and (e), may be admitted to the honours course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Criminology with Honours.

Candidates admitted under Rule 2(a)(ii) shall have completed all requirements for admission to the degrees of Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Laws before being awarded the Bachelor of Criminology with Honours.

The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) is offered On Campus and Online either Full-time or Part-time. Units are offered in all three trimesters allowing students to complete the course in two calendar years if they wish.
Entry Requirements

A candidate shall:

(a) (i) be qualified for admission (see
Admission Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Coursework) Rule
and
Admission Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Coursework) Procedures
);
and

(ii) if admitted on the basis of an Australian school-leaving qualification, have achieved a pass in English and a science subject (other than Mathematics) in that school-leaving qualification;
or

(b) hold unrestricted Enrolled Nurse registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA);
or

(c) be an international student who has completed a minimum AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree, in a health related discipline* area from a recognised university overseas, and not be currently registered to practice as a nurse in Australia; location available for UNE Sydney or Armidale on campus only, commencing in Trimester 2 and Trimester 3; and at least one of the following criteria must be met: (i) English is the applicant's first language; or (ii) comply with the University's
English Language Requirements for Admission
and
English Language Requirements higher than the University minimum requirement Annex for Courses in Nursing (Conferring Eligibility for Registered Nurse Status; or

(d) be an international student that holds a minimum 2 year FTE post-secondary equivalent to AQF Level 5 Diploma in Nursing and be registered, licensed or recognised in their own country as registered or a professional nurse in the last ten years. Location available for Armidale on campus only commencing in Trimester 3; and comply with the University's English Language Requirements for Admission and English Language Requirements higher than the University minimum requirement Annex for Courses in Nursing (Conferring Eligibility for Registered Nurse Status. This pathway is only available to candidates from education providers with which UNE has signed a formal partnership agreement; or

(e) successfully complete an application under an Approved Admission Scheme and Alternative Pathway.

*Health related discipline areas may include, but is not limited to: Social Work; Community Services; Paramedicine; Allied Health; Biomedical Science; Pharmacy; Medicine.

Masters (Coursework)

The University of New England is committed to maintaining its strong research culture, underpinned by high research training standards. The Master of Rural Science Rules provide the framework for one of the University's AQF Level 9 awards.
Entry Requirements

1. Admission to candidature in the degree of Master of Rural Science (MRurSc) may be approved by the Committee only when the Head of School has:

(a) certified that the necessary facilities and appropriate support for the applicant undertaking the proposed MRurSc program are available;
and

(b) nominated an appropriate Principal Supervisor and Co-supervisor(s) in accordance with Rule 4.

2. The Committee may, on the recommendation of the relevant Head of School, admit to candidature into the course for the degree of Master of rural Science (MRurSc) an applicant who:

(a) has a degree of Bachelor with at least second class honours (AQF Level 8) or equivalent; or

(b) has a degree at AQF Level 7 or equivalent and has adequate relevant preparation since graduation. Adequate relevant preparation may be gained by an approved academic course, professional training, during an occupation or through peer reviewed publications.
