University of New England (UNE) Courses

A candidate shall submit a Statement of Service for their work experience from their employer; and

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline* and at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**;

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a non-relevant discipline and have at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**;

(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma or Honours qualification plus at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**;

(d) hold an AQF Level 9 Masters qualification or above and at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**.

Relevant work experience

refers to a position of responsibility in any organisational or industry context.

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline*;

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a non-relevant discipline and at least one year of full-time equivalent experience in an area of service provision;

(c) hold an approved AQF Level 5 Diploma or AQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma and at least two years full-time equivalent experience in the area of service provision;

(d) have at least five years of full-time equivalent work experience including at least three years in an area of service provision**.

Applicants admitted under Rule (b), (c) or (d) must submit a Statement of Service from their employer.

Other similar disciplines as determined by the course coordinator.

Assumed knowledge is dependant on degree subjects chosen, any two units of English, Chemistry, Mathematics.

For students without the recommended background knowledge, the School offers introductory units in Chemistry and Mathematics.

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree in a discipline related to the built environment including architecture, planning, environment or geography;

(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (including at least one 500-level unit) from the University of New England or equivalent AQF Level 8 qualification (including at least one 500-level unit) and attained at least a Credit average in 48 credit points.

A candidate shall;

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline;

(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours in a relevant discipline;

(c) hold an AQF Level 9 Master in a relevant discipline;

(d) hold an AQF Level 10 Doctorate in a relevant discipline.

Biochemistry; Biology; Botany; Chemistry; Computational Science; Genetics; Geology; Mathematics; Medicinal Chemistry; Microbiology; Neuroscience (may include: Science, Medicine, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Education, Health, Counselling); Physics; Physiology; Statistics; and Zoology. A degree will be considered relevant to a nominated major if it includes study that covers the minimum assumed knowledge. Where it is not clear from their academic background, applicants may include a cover letter with their application describing how they have achieved the minimum assumed knowledge.

Applied Statistics: one unit of statistics and one unit of (calculus-based) mathematics

Biochemistry: two units of biology and two units of chemistry

Biodiversity Science: two units of biology

Biomedical Science: two units of biology and two units of chemistry

Chemistry: two units of chemistry

Computational Data Science: one unit of statistics and one unit of (calculus-based) mathematics and two programming intensive units

Genetics: two units of biology and two units of chemistry

Health: two units of biology and two units of chemistry

Mathematics: two units of (calculus-based) mathematics

Medicinal Chemistry: two units of chemistry and one additional unit of chemistry, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical science

Neuroscience: four units at second year level or above from neuroscience (see relevant disciplines)

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification from a recognised University;

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline*.

Medicinal Chemistry: two units of chemistry and an additional two units of chemistry, biochemistry or pharmaceutical science

Quantitative Ecology: one unit of statistics or probability, one unit of (calculus-based) mathematics, and two units of ecology, physical geography, or related sciences, or equivalent

Zoology: two units of biology and two units in any biological science at the 200-level or above equivalent

Students wishing to complete the course on a full-time basis are strongly encouraged to have greater than the minimum assumed knowledge and to begin their study in first trimester.
