Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Sciences), on the advice of the Head of the Department of Science Communication.
  2. Every applicant must either
    1. be a graduate and have achieved an average grade of at least B in the relevant 300 level papers.
    2. have equivalent qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Sciences).
  3. In considering an applicant's qualifications, regard will be had to the detail of the course of study followed to gain the qualification, as well as the applicant's performance in the programme.
  4. An applicant seeking admission to the thesis-only option of the programme (see 2 (c) below) on the basis of the Degree of Bachelor of Sciences with Honours or the Postgraduate Diploma in Science Communication or equivalent, must have a B+ average within the papers required for that degree.

Masters (Coursework)

The Master of Bioethics and Health Law (MBHL) degree is an interdisciplinary postgraduate programme which consists in writing a research dissertation under supervision and completing papers worth an additional 120 points from a schedule of papers.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme will be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
  2. Every applicant shall possess a postgraduate diploma, or be a graduate with honours or of a four-year undergraduate programme in a relevant discipline. A candidate shall usually have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics and Health Law (PGDipBHL) or an equivalent qualification, and shall have achieved an average across all papers of at least B.
  3. All applicants must present evidence of ability for advanced level academic study.

Graduate Diploma

The Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (PGDipClinDent) may be undertaken full-time (one year) or part-time (two years) at the Faculty of Dentistry depending on the endorsement.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
  2. Every applicant shall hold the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery of the University of Otago or another equivalent dental qualification approved by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences), and be a registered dental practitioner in their country of practice or residence.
  3. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their previous academic record (normally with a grade average of a B+ or greater), their graduate experience and academic achievements, evidence that they are committed to ongoing education, reports from three referees and postgraduate English requirements (where applicable).
  4. Admission to the programme is limited to a number of candidates determined by the Council annually on the basis of available resources.

Graduate Diploma

In general, this qualification is intended for health professionals who have completed three years of tertiary study and already have experience in the field.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
  2. Every applicant shall
    1. be a graduate or possess an appropriate health professional qualification requiring at least three years' full-time tertiary study;
    2. if enrolling for an endorsed diploma, have experience of or be currently working in the relevant field of health care;
    3. present evidence of ability for advanced level academic study.

Bachelor

Dunedin
The Bachelor of Music (MusB) degree requires three years of full-time or its equivalent in part-time study. The programme totals 360 points and is mainly made up of Music papers but may include up to 90 points (usually five papers) in other subjects.
Entry Requirements

Every programme of study for the degree shall satisfy the requirements for prerequisites, corequisites and restrictions set out in the Prescriptions (published in the Guide to Enrolment).

Graduate Diploma

The Postgraduate Diploma in Child-Centred Practice (PGDipCCP) requires at least twelve months of full-time or its equivalent in part-time study.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Board of the Division of Humanities.
  2. Every applicant shall either
    1. be a graduate or possess an appropriate professional qualification requiring at least three years of full-time tertiary study; or
    2. have alternative qualifications or experience related to Childhood Studies which are acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities).

Graduate Certificate

The Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (PGCertHealSc) is designed to enable health professionals to specialise in specific areas of practice at a postgraduate level, studying on a part-time basis.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
  2. Every applicant shall
    1. be a graduate or possess an appropriate health professional qualification requiring at least three years' full-time tertiary study;
    2. have experience of or be currently working in the relevant field of health care;
    3. present evidence of ability for advanced level academic study.

Masters (Coursework)

The MSusBus is an interdisciplinary programme providing you with an advanced qualification in sustainability. This is the only course of its type in New Zealand.
Entry Requirements
  1. Every applicant shall have been admitted to a bachelor's degree with an average grade of at least B, or have obtained a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Business with an average grade of at least B, or have alternative qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Commerce).
  2. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce).

Graduate Certificate

The Postgraduate Certificate in Physiotherapy (PGCertPhty) is a distance-taught programme that may be endorsed in either Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Neurorehabilitation, Occupational Health Physiotherapy or Sports Physiotherapy.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences).
  2. Every applicant shall
    1. have been admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Physiotherapy or hold an equivalent Physiotherapy qualification acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences);
    2. be registered with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and possess an Annual Practising Certificate where appropriate or be a registered (or equivalent) physiotherapist in their country of practice or residence; and
    3. have post-qualification clinical experience in physiotherapy.

Bachelor

Health systems in the future will see more initiatives in the community. New health roles will be developed to deliver these initiatives and help individuals negotiate the jigsaw of health services available.

Masters (Coursework)

The Master of Economics (MEcon) will equip students to be either professional practitioners or academic researchers in the field of Economics. It can also provide a pathway to doctoral-level study in Economics. The degree consists of both coursework and a research dissertation.
Entry Requirements
  1. Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Commerce).
  2. Every applicant must either
    1. be a graduate, and
    2. normally have achieved an average grade of B in the papers satisfying the final year requirements for the degree, including both econometrics and mathematical economics, or
    3. have equivalent alternative qualifications or experience acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce).
  3. In considering an applicant's qualifications, regard will be given to the detail of the course of study followed to gain the qualification, as well as the applicant's performance in the programme.

Graduate Certificate

The aim of the Postgraduate Certificate in Chaplaincy (PGCertChap) is to enhance chaplaincy in a range of contemporary settings through engagement with current scholarship into the practice of chaplaincy.
