Charles Darwin University (CDU) Courses

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or equivalent international qualification.

Consideration will be given to applicants who have a diploma level qualification or above and at least five years relevant professional experience.

Applicants must provide further documentation detailing their employment experience (i.e. work experience certificate from an employer/s) and outlining their roles and achievements in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) and a statement of purpose. The statement of purpose should address why you would like to be admitted into the course, career goals and aspirations and benefits the course will provide you.

CDU Domestic Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification required by the Training Package, however CDU requires students to:

• undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment to determine applicable support requirements;
• be fit, active and able to function effectively in a tropical environment, as this is a physically demanding course; and
• students must have a work contract with an approved employer to undertake a traineeship

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
• Defence members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
  ~Air Force: Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman, Corporal, Leading Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman
  ~Army: Corporal, Lance Corporal, Private
  ~Navy: Able Seaman, Leading Seaman, Seaman
• Current School Leaver Pathways:
  ~Best of 3 Year 12 subject grades
  ~School recommendation program

* After any applicable adjustment factors have been applied.

There are no mandatory entry requirements for this qualification. However, applicants who wish to commence this course need to have the required skills and knowledge to undertake the qualification at this level; e.g. completion of Year 10 or equivalent, and a general command of spoken and written English, to be able to meet industry standards for communication.
