This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who:

hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Community Services, Health or related field

or

have skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a recognition of prior learning process

This course has the following essential entry requirements:

• Aged 18 years or over
• Previous completion of TasTAFE guiding training and/or 1 full season industry guiding experience
• Confident swimmer
• Moderate level of fitness (physically capable of paddling a sea kayak in moderate wind conditions (11-16 knots) for up to two hours at a time)

This course has the following essential entry requirements:

Prior to enrolling in this training program, you must be able to demonstrate an adequate level of language, literacy and numeracy skill, and currency in vocational teaching.

In your application you will need to:

• complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (bksb) assessment and achieve a competency of at least Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both language and numeracy
• provide evidence of vocational currency in the area in which you intend to teach i.e. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery; Certificate IV in Engineering
• provide your CV showing your experience using this qualification in vocational teaching
• undertake an interview to confirm training plan options and access to vocational learners.

Applicants will be required to undertake a career conversation including a literacy and numeracy questionnaire* as part of their application. This process will take place either face to face or online depending on applicants' availability, and applicants will be fully supported throughout the process. *an outcome of exit level 2 in literacy and exit level 2 in numeracy is desired for entry to this course.
