Emergency management (also known as civil defence or disaster management) is an exciting and growing global profession. Massey's Graduate Diploma in Emergency Management is comprised of undergraduate courses. You'll have a wide range of courses you can choose from (electives).

Graduate Diploma

The Postgraduate Diploma in Business (PGDipBus) provides you with an advanced education in business. It consists of taught courses, though you may include a project in an area of interest.

To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Business programme you will have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, with a minimum B- grade average in the highest level courses.

Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as an Additional Language (GradCertTEAL) is a flexible undergraduate qualification for students from a range of different background experiences. You must already be teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL).
Entry Requirements

To enter the Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as an Additional Language you will provide evidence that you have access to teaching a group of learners of English as an additional language within a formal educational setting and have:

  • been awarded or qualified for a university degree or diploma; or
  • completed at least two years of relevant practical, professional, or scholarly experience.

For the purposes of this graduate certificate, a relevant practice situation may be a school or other approved institution, or you may be teaching under the New Zealand English language partners scheme (see http://www.englishlanguage.org.nz).

You will need to please provide the following documents:

Masters (Coursework)

The Master of International Security is a multidisciplinary programme. It draws on strategic studies, international relations, military studies, political science, area studies, political and human geography and complementary fields of study.
Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of International Security you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a relevant bachelor's degree with a grade average of at least B-, or
  • a completed Postgraduate Certificate in International Security, with at least a B- grade average, or
  • a completed Postgraduate Diploma in International Security, with at least a B- Grade average,

or you will:

  • be able to demonstrate scholarly work in conjunction with extensive relevant professional experience and standing in leadership, managerial and planning positions in government or non-government security agencies appropriate for admission with equivalent status.

If you have a Postgraduate Certificate in International Security or Postgraduate Diploma in International Security as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

If you are applying on the basis of scholarly work in conjunction with extensive relevant professional experience you must also provide a copy of your current curriculum vitae (CV).

To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology you will have been awarded or qualified for:

  • a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, with a major in the intended postgraduate subject, or equivalent, with a minimum B- average in the majoring 300-level courses, or
  • a postgraduate certificate that includes 30 credits of courses fom the schedule to the Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology, or equivalent.

Entry Requirements

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Educational and Developmental Psychology you will:

  • hold a completed master's degree in education, psychology, counselling, social work, speech language therapy, or a related relevant discipline, with a B average across all courses (or equivalent), and
  • have completed at least 60 credits of approved psychology courses including at least 45 credits at 200-level or higher, having achieved a grade average of at least a B, and
  • have completed sufficient study and research in the area of psychology/educational psychology to be able to satisfy New Zealand Psychologists Board registration requirements, and
  • have completed at least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in a field relevant to the certificate.

You will need to provide the following documents:

  • a copy of your current curriculum vitae, including details of your educational and professional qualifications, employment history with dates and descriptions of roles and responsibilities, membership of associations/organisations, and a list of professional publications and research reports
  • a brief summary of research you have undertaken including the title and abstract of your master's thesis if it is not included on your academic transcript or CV
  • verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

Successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Educational and Developmental Psychology will enable you to apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Educational and Developmental Psychology (internship).
