Massey University Courses

To enter the Master of Environmental Management you will have been awarded or qualified for:

• a relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a minimum B average in the qualifying 300-level courses, or
• a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management or equivalent, with at least a B average (for the Applied pathway) or B+ average (for the Research pathway), or
• a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours), or equivalent, with Second Class Honours, Division II, or higher (for the Applied pathway) or Second Class Honours, Division I, or higher (for the Research pathway).

If you have a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management or equivalent as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science you will have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor of Health Science degree or an equivalent qualification.

Note the following endorsements have additional requirements:

• For the Psychology endorsement you will have been awarded or qualified for an undergraduate major in Psychology with at leat a B- grade average in the 300-level Psyscology courses
• For the Medical Laboratory Science endorsement you will have been awarded or qualified for an undergraduate major in Science and there are some additional specific requirements.

To enter the Graduate Diploma in Information Sciences you will have been awarded or qualified for a university degree or equivalent qualification.

To enter the Master of Veterinary Medicine you will have been awarded or qualified for:

• a Massey University Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc), or
• have a veterinary qualification that can be registered by the New Zealand Veterinary Council or is considered by the Academic Board to be equivalent to the Massey University BVSc.

In order to enrol directly into the Master of Veterinary Medicine programme you must have obtained a B grade average in your veterinary degree.

Entry is subject to final approval by the Director of the MVM.

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements.

To enter the Master of Counselling Studies you will have:

• been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Counselling & Guidance), with a B average, or
• been awarded or qualified for a Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation (Rehabilitation Counselling) with a B average, or
• been awarded or qualified for an approved equivalent qualification with a B average,
• sufficient background or professional experience to be likely to successfully engage in the programme.

You will be selected into the programme on the basis of a process which includes providing:

• a verified copy of your academic transcript/s
• a copy of your current curriculum vitae (including education and employment for at least the last five years)
• a completed NZ Police Request and Consent form, along with two pieces of verified identification (one of which must be photographic) from the list of acceptable forms of identification on the Checklist
• a copy of a police report from every country you have lived in for more than 12 months in the last 10 years. Please do not supply originals.
• you may take part in an interview.

As part of the application you will also supply:

• a personal statement about what you have learned about counselling, including your understanding of mana enhancing, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bi-cultural, pluralistic approaches
• contact details of suggested agencies/settings where you would like to undertake your counselling practice placement
• contact details of two referees
• contact details for a potential supervisor external to your placement.

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Bachelor of Maori Visual Arts you will need to:

• provide a portfolio of your work, in the form of slides, photos or actual artworks
• provide a statement (of around 100 words) of why you want to join the BMVA programme
• take part in an interview.

To enter the Master of Social Work programme you will:

• have been awarded or qualified for the Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work with Honours or equivalent, or
• have been awarded or qualified for the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work or equivalent with a B grade average across all courses.

This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

To enter the Master of Business Administration you will:

• have been awarded or qualified for a relevant bachelor's degree, having achieved at least a B- grade average in the highest level courses, or equivalent
• have completed at least three years of postgraduate fulltime work; and
• Have been selected into the programme on the basis of selection process.

To enter the Master of Nursing programme you will have been awarded or qualified for a:

• bachelor's degree with a minimum grade average of B over the 300 level courses, or
• Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing or equivalent, with a minimum B grade average, or
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing or equivalent, with a minimum B grade average.

You will also:

• be a registered nurse (enrolled nurses are not eligible) with a practising certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand
• have completed at least two years of professional experience in a relevant nursing specialty within the previous five years.

You will provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

The New Zealand Nursing Council requires that if your qualification is from an overseas institution (other than Australia) you will need to have it authenticated and assessed by NZQA before credit can be awarded.
