Entry Requirements

Applicants must be aged at least 18 at course commencement.

Direct Entry & Trainees:
Minimum working Levels of 3 for numeracy and literacy (Exit Level 2). The PTR process will include additional questions to establish comprehension and verbal communication. These must be answered to a satisfactory standard to allow entry into the course

Work placement location cannot exceed a 35km radius from Holmesglen Chadstone campus

A valid WWCC, Police Check and full serology as per placement requirements

Trainees:
A current contract through any of the seven Australian Government Apprenticeship Network providers

Holmesglen's Bachelor of Information Systems has a practical, hands-on approach to learning, focusing on building technical skills from the ground up.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of this higher education program, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment. This will assist with determining your suitability to the course, and identify any learning support needs.

Applicants with Recent Secondary Education (within the past two years)
This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection consideration.

An applicant may be admitted to the course after completing VCE with the following:

* Units 3 and 4 English Language with a study score of at least 20, OR English as an Additional Language (EAL) with a study score of at least 25.

For these three applicant types:
Applicants with Higher Education Study
Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) Study
Applicants with Work and Life experience

The following entry requirements apply:
Your entire academic record will be considered
You will also be required to attend a 30-minute interview where your suitability for enrolment will be determined.

You should bring supporting documentation for review, which could include:
a personal CV outlining your relevant work and life experience
letters of reference from employers
documents relating to prior study, including course and subject transcripts, and course and subject outline documents.

The Computing and IT Department will contact you to arrange an interview time, once you have applied.

Holmesglen requires learners to be able to:

Pathways into the course
Applicants who already hold a certificate, diploma or higher qualification in an IT field will be offered an admissions pathway into the Bachelor of Information Systems.

Advanced Standing will be considered for applicants who have:
been awarded an IT diploma or higher in the last 5 years
have more than 2 years' experience working in the IT industry.

Applicants seeking advanced standing need to apply to enrol. The Computing and IT Department will contact you to arrange an interview to review your Advanced Standing application. During the 30-minute interview, you will be asked to submit evidence of qualifications and/or work experience in the IT field.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) equips you for a job in aged care. Combining theory and practice, this aged care course will teach you how to provide physical, social and emotional support to older people.
Entry Requirements

All applicants are required to complete Holmesglen's bksb online LLN assessment tool as part of the pre-training review process. Learners should demonstrate LLN skills at ACSF Working Level 3 to enter the course, however those learners with ACSF Level 2 in English literacy may be admitted to the program with LLN support.

Effective Literacy skills are required to access course resource information and complete assessment tasks, such as; workbooks, website links (including Holmesglen's LMS - Brightspace), quizzes, case studies, example proformas, case notes and other Sector-related documentation.

General numeric literacy is required in the workplace for noting relevant information, such as weight, fluid volume, time, frequency and quantity.

Those applicants who achieve lower than the required Level 3 in either Basic English or Basic Maths may be selected to commence the course with additional LLN support. All learners identified as having a bksb result lower than level 3, are formally referred to the LSC (Learning Skills Centre) who then make contact with the learner to organise the support required.

The Introduction to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a short course which will give you a clear understanding of the scheme and what it means to work with a person who accesses the scheme.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

Course participants need to be:
* good listeners and communicators, supportive, encouraging, patient
* interested in supporting an NDIS participant in a range of settings from supporting the person at home, to supporting the person in the community, in a learning environment, in employment, in a day service, in a residential service or in respite.
* have basic IT skills and be able to use a PC, laptop and/or smart device to access online course materials and remote classes.

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will give you the skills to plan and implement appropriate care and educational experiences for young children.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age.

There are no formal entry requirements, however applicants should have the physical capacity to be able to successfully work within the field where they may be required to lift young children, sit on the floor with groups of children, lift and move moderately heavy climbing equipment etc. while making sure they are in compliance with all WHS legislation.

Students must also be able to participate in assessable industry placements to successfully complete the course. A current Working With Children Check card is required for placement and proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for placement by individual centres/businesses.
