You will learn through a problem-based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that facilitate the integration of theory and practice. As a speech pathologist, you will be equipped to work in a wide range of health and educational settings.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Speech Pathology, a student must have:

  • completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology) with a minimum GPA of 5.0 using a 7-point scale (studies must have been completed within ten years prior to the commencement of the trimester to which a student is applying and whilst there are no prerequisite study areas for admission, desirable areas include: Psychology; Health Science; Public Health; Medical Science; Human Services; Education; Linguistics) and
  • satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.

Admission will not normally be granted for an undergraduate degree that has been completed more than ten years prior to the time of application for admission. If studies were completed more than ten years prior to the time of application, applicants must have:

  • completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology)* and
  • completed a minimum of 40 credit points (equivalent to Bachelor degree level or above) at a higher education institution within ten years of applying for admission with a GPA of at least 5.0 and
  • satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.

OR

  • completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology)* with a GPA of at least 5.0 and
  • completed a minimum of three years full-time equivalent professional experience within the five years prior to the commencement of the trimester to which a student is applying (examples of relevant experience include Health, Education, Psychology, Disability Services, Human Services, Social Work) and can demonstrate the ability to undertake postgraduate study by providing:
    • a curriculum vitae and
    • a summary of relevant skills applicable to speech pathology (maximum two pages) and
    • an employer's reference and
    • satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.

* Whilst there are no prerequisite study areas for admission, desirable areas include: Psychology; Health Science; Public Health; Medical Science; Human Services; Education; Linguistics.

As the number of applicants may exceed the places available, selection for admission is competitive and will be based upon (1) academic merit and (2) interview.

Graduate Entry (Trimester 1 entry only)

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Entry pathway of the Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, a student must have:

  • successfully completed an approved university degree comprising the equivalent of 160 credit points of science courses which included completion of the following:
    • at least two chemistry courses (equivalent to a minimum of 20 credit points) followed by at least two second year level biochemistry courses (equivalent to a minimum of 20 credit points) AND
    • at least two human biology courses followed by at least two second year level physiology courses (equivalent to a minimum of 20 credit points) AND
    • at least one 10 credit point (or equivalent) nutrition course including content on nutrition science AND
    • at least one 10 credit point (or equivalent) food science course.

Please note: a maximum of 160CP will be awarded in credit for this program when entering via Graduate Entry

A thorough understanding of physiology and biochemistry is necessary for informed study of nutrition and dietetics and is specified as a requirement for Dietitians specified in the Dietitians Australia Accreditation process.

This program builds on the strong science foundation that students developed in their undergraduate science or health science degree to provide advanced studies in pharmaceutical science, professional and clinical pharmacy practice and pharmacy research.
Entry Requirements

Applicants are eligible for admission into the Master of Pharmacy subject to meeting the following criteria:

  • completed an eligible science or health science Bachelor degree within the past 10 years;
  • achieved an overall GPA greater than or equal to 5.0 (on a 7.0 point scale) in the last 18 months of undergraduate study;
  • meet all of the following essential prerequisites at a tertiary level with a minimum level of Pass:
    • Biochemistry: One trimester duration or equivalent
    • Chemistry: Two trimesters duration or equivalent
    • Pharmacology: One trimester duration or equivalent
    • Physiology: One trimester duration or equivalent
    • Statistics or Maths: One trimester duration or equivalent

Where a student has not met the pharmacology prerequisite from their prior studies, they may enrol in 2018PHM Pharmacology which is offered in all three trimesters, with an intensive mode in Trimester 3 of each year.

Entry Requirements

For admission to the Master of Education and Professional Studies Research, an applicant is required to hold:

  • a postgraduate qualification with a GPA of at least 5.0 in a related discipline
  • OR a bachelor degree with at least Second Class Honours (Division B) in a related discipline.

In addition to the academic qualifications required for candidature as described above, the following criteria need to be satisfied for admission:

  • the proposed topic is appropriate for higher degree research and consonant with the academic aims and objectives of the School of Education and Professional Studies;
  • the School of Education and Professional Studies is able to provide the necessary research place, supervision, resources and facilities and there is an appropriate fit between the applicant, research environment, available resources and supervision;
  • there are two qualified members of staff holding confirmed, continuing or fixed-term appointments of sufficient length for the purposes of supervision;
  • the proposed program of work can be completed within the maximum period of candidature for the degree;
  • the proposed research does not reproduce research that has previously been submitted for the award of a degree or diploma;
  • the proposed program conforms to the University's ethical guidelines on research involving humans and animals;
  • where the intellectual property rights of the applicant may be a consideration, a suitable agreement protecting the rights of the student has been signed - should a student be unwilling to sign an agreement, the research proposal may not be approved and the student may be required to choose another program of study;
  • the provision of educational services consequent upon approval of the application for candidature will not expose the University to a risk of contravening any applicable law including any international embargoes, sanctions or controls which regulate the University's operations from time to time.

The Graduate Diploma of Research Studies in Science is an 80 credit point program that provides an alternative route for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program for applicants who do not possess the required qualifications for direct admission.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Research Studies in Science, a student must:

  • hold an undergraduate degree in a related discipline from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum Grade Point Average of 5.0 (using a 7.0 point scale) over the last two years of the Bachelor degree
  • OR hold a Masters degree in a related discipline from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum Grade Point Average of 5.0 (using a 7.0 point scale).

In addition to the academic qualifications required as described above, the following criteria need to be satisfied:

  • there is a qualified member of staff holding confirmed, continuing or fixed term appointments of sufficient length for the purposes of supervision.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Screen Production undertaking a major in Advanced Screen Production, applicants must have:

  • a Bachelor degree in Screen Production (or equivalent) or a Graduate Certificate in Screen Production (or equivalent) from a recognised tertiary institution - these students may be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing

You should include a list outlining your contribution or role for each submitted artwork.
