Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the graduate certificate must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification, and have a minimum of one-year post-registration experience. All health professionals must hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or accredited within their discipline.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants for the graduate diploma must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification, have a minimum of one-year post-registration experience, and be registered nurses. All health professionals must hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or accredited within their discipline.

Masters

Applicants for the masters must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification, have a minimum of one-year post-registration experience, and be registered nurses.

All health professionals must hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or accredited within their discipline.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Education (Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice) must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Masters

Masters (2 years): Applicants must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification.

Masters (1.5 years): Applicants must hold a bachelor degree in education, teaching or a closely related discipline.

Applicants must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification that includes:

• the equivalent of at least 13.5 Flinders units across the course of their undergraduate program in human nutrition, and food science topics in the areas of basic nutrition principles, life-cycle nutrition and food science
• the equivalent of nine Flinders units in chemistry studied at first-year level
• the equivalent of nine Flinders units in human biology studied at first-year level
• the equivalent of at least nine Flinders units in human biochemistry topics studied at second-year level or above
• the equivalent of at least nine Flinders units in human physiology topics studied at second year level or above
• a minimum of a credit average.

Applicants will be ranked for admission on academic merit.

Applicants must hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in psychology or with a major in psychology, completed within the last 10 years, which is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC); and must normally have achieved a Grade Point Average of 5.00 or above in all second and third year psychology topics attempted including a third year research methodology topic. Selection will be based on academic merit.

Graduate certificate

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification. However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit you entry to the postgraduate program.

Masters

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification. However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit you entry to the postgraduate program.

Applicants may apply for an advanced entry (1.5 years) if you have completed an approved degree or equivalent qualification in education, teaching or a a closely related discipline.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Screen and Media Production must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants to the Graduate Diploma in Screen and Media Production must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Masters

Applicants to the Master of Screen and Media Production must normally hold an approved bachelor degree in any discipline. Applicants to the Master of Screen and Media Production (1.5 years) must normally hold an approved bachelor degree in screen and media, an honours degree in any discipline, or a Graduate Certificate in Screen and Media or a related discipline. Applicants to the Master of Screen and Media Production (1 year) must normally hold the Graduate Diploma in Screen and Media Production or an honours degree in screen and media production.

Applicants for the Master of Teaching (Special Education) (Primary R-7 Specialisation) must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification with a major in one the following: English, Drama, Mathematics, Information Technology, Modern languages (restricted to Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, German and Modern Greek), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences), Visual Arts, Health Education, Physical Education, History, Geography.

Applicants for the Master of Teaching (Special Education) (Secondary Specialisation) must hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification with a major (preferably two) that enable them to teach to Year 12 in at least one of: English, Drama, Mathematics, Modern Languages (restricted to Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, German and Modern Greek), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences), Visual Arts, Health Education, Physical Education, History, Geography, Business Studies, Legal Studies and Psychology.

Not all teaching specialisations are offered every year. If your teaching area is Physical Education, you must apply for the Master of Teaching (Special Education) (Secondary) - Physical Education (SATAC code 2CM228) to be considered.

Note that in South Australia, to teach to Year 10, four undergraduate semester topics in the specialisation are needed; and to teach to Year 12, six undergraduate semester topics in the specialisation are needed. Not all of the above curriculum areas are taught throughout Years 8 to 12.

The Master of Teaching is a pre-service teaching degree and admission normally will not be granted to applicants who already hold a teaching qualification. Additional entry requirements

Applicants must complete a non-academic assessment task known as a Teaching Capabilities Statement as part of their application to demonstrate their motivation to teach, their strong interpersonal and communication skills, willingness to learn, resilience, self-efficacy, and strong organisational and planning skills. This involves a short statement in response to three set questions used to demonstrate suitability for study and work in the teaching profession. Applicants who select this course as a preference during the application process will be directed to a page to meet this requirement.

Inherent requirements

The Australian Government has recently introduced the Literacy and Numeracy Test for all initial teacher education (ITE) students to ensure they have the high level of personal literacy and numeracy skills required of teachers. The test is a single, national instrument designed to assess elements of an individual’s literacy and numeracy skills and will be used to demonstrate that ITE graduates are in the top 30 per cent of the population for literacy and numeracy. All students commencing an ITE program after 1 January 2017 will be required to meet the benchmark prior to graduation. There are also important inherent requirements for this course and applicants are strongly advised to become aware of these requirements.
