Vaccination Requirement

Decisions on mandatory vaccinations will instead be made by the owner or operator of these settings. Preservice teachers will need to adhere to the individual education setting requirements. Academic Requirements (Pre-requisite Qualification)

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold:

• A completed 3 year non-education Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree, or overseas equivalent qualification, with a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0 which has been completed within the last 10 years* ; and
• Successful completion of at least 8 units (1 year full-time equivalent study) relevant to either one, or a combination, of the learning areas from the primary school curriculum (below):

Non-Academic Requirements (Key Capabilities)

All applicants must provide a mandatory written statement in support of your non-academic capabilities, demonstrating how you hold the key attributes and motivations to become an effective teacher, as outlined by AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership). You may consider the prompts mentioned below in each question to frame your response. For your application to be considered, you must write 200-500 words for each of the questions below:

English Language Proficiency

Applicants are required to provide evidence of their completed 3 year non-education Bachelor level qualification with an overall Grade Point Average of at least 4.0, which has been completed within Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland or United States of America.

If you do not satisfy the above requirement, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

• An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 7.5 with a minimum 7.0 for Reading and Writing and 8.0 for Speaking and Listening.

To participate in clinical placements, students require the following: - CQUniversity Student Declaration - Queensland Health Student Deed Poll - Working with Children Card - Criminal Police Check Additional checks and documentation may also be required, depending on the type of placement site as different organisations / placement sites. To participate in clinical placements students require the following vaccinations: - Hepatitis B - Measles, Mumps and Rubella - DTpa (Whooping Cough) - Varicella (Chicken Pox) - Tuberculosis Screening Additional vaccinations may also be required. This will depend on the type of placement site and the site location, as different states have different vaccinations regulations and requirements. To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold one of the following:

• A completed Australian Bachelor degree, or higher Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent qualification with three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant* business experience; or
• A completed Australian Diploma qualification, or higher Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent qualification with three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant* business experience; or
• A minimum of five years relevant* business experience.

*Relevant business experience includes a working knowledge of how a business operates, for example, budgeting, staffing, project management, financial reporting, process management.

Mandatory requirements - 500 clinical hours are required to complete to gain qualification. Students will be required to either be working in or have access to volunteering in relevant clinic, facility or organisation and have a suitably qualified supervisor from the that sector to sign you off on industry reports. These reports assess your ability to perform tasks in the workplace, they are referred to as '3rd party reports'. Some units within your course will require you to complete these workplace task and are identified in the assessment requirements for that unit.

Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.

Minimum age to apply is 17 years

This course is an Indigenous specific program that allows Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples to apply for identified positions within the Health sector like Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health worker or Practitioner.

When you apply for proof of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage through an Indigenous organisation, they will probably ask you to explain your heritage to their committee or to provide documentation/information that confirms your heritage. For this reason it's useful to find out as much as you can about your family history before you contact them. This is particularly important if you or your ancestors have been displaced from your heritage. This process can take some time, depending when the organisation has its meetings. A 'letter of confirmation' is usually obtained from an incorporated Indigenous organisation and must be stamped with their common seal.
