Entry Requirements

Employed as an apprentice in the civil construction industry or related business with a apprenticeship training contract in place and signed by Holmesglen / Apprentice / Employer.
Must hold WorkSafe Victoria construction industry induction white card. Holmesglen will provide the industry card training at an additional cost if required.
The required LLN levels for this qualification are Reading: 3, Writing: 2 and Numeracy: 4 to ensure candidates/apprentices can conduct the following tasks:
Use and interpret vocabulary specific and workplace procedures to communicate with other workplace personnel.
Complete a Safe Work Method Statement to include other work being conducted at the work place, including a site plan for underground surfaces.
Interpret documentation that includes technical specificity to workplace procedures, inspection and safe use of plant and safety equipment, including emergency plan workplace signage.
Calculate soil types, weights and cubic metres.

Apprentices must complete a BKSB Literacy and Numeracy assessment before enrolment.

There are no prerequisites for this qualification.

Holmesglen requires all applicants to be engaged in an Electrical Apprenticeship. You must be signed up as an Apprentice with your chosen employer and have a Delta number stating Holmesglen is your selected training provider.

It is recommended that applicants have completed Year 11 or equivalent and have a minimum of Year 10 English and Mathematics.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

The Course in Workplace Spotting for Service Assets provides workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure safe practices as a spotter and identify hazards in plants near overhead, underground assets and electrical equipment.
Entry Requirements

To participate in this program students must
* be at least 16 years of age.
* be currently employed in the industry to participate in this program
* be aged 18 years at a minimum in order, to satisfy the ESV registration requirement on course completion
* has completed training and holds competency in the unit HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (within the last 3 years), and;
* has completed annual refresher training in the unit HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (within the last 12 months) where the HLTAID011 training was completed more than 12 months ago
and;
* holds a license to perform High Risk Work (issued by WorkSafe Victoria), for the item of plant that person will be spotting for; Or,
* has a current ticket/s in the field you want included on your Spotters ticket; Or,
* has a certificate/statement of attainment from relevant training package/accredited course for each item of plant the spotter is training to spot for; Or be a trained dogman/rigger

To be eligible for funding, you must be an Australian Citizens or Resident (with residency in Victoria). You can enrol in two funded skill sets per calendar year.

Learners will be required to present the original documents such as licences/tickets and training certificates to the Department when enrolling in this course for certification.

All non-apprentices are identified and supported by Apprentice Central with a view for them to engage in an apprenticeship program as soon as possible.

The Restricted - Disconnection/Reconnection of Fixed Wired Low Voltage Electrical Equipment course is designed for those needing to disconnect and reconnect equipment associated with their primary trade, vocation, or occupation, such as licensed tradespersons.

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.

The Restricted Electrical Workers Licence - Class 2 is applicable to people employed in a primary work function where there is a need to disconnect/reconnect electrical equipment that is incidental to their primary function.

The units of competency in this Skill Set are for persons who already hold a relevant Certificate III or equivalent and the work is incidental or a primary and regular function of work related to a principle work function.

The Operate a Bridge and Gantry Crane Licence course teaches you to work as a bridge and gantry crane operator on industrial and/or construction sites. You will learn to operate a crane safely, including set-up, mobile loads, shut-down and secure.
Entry Requirements

Applicants will be existing workers, such as doggers or riggers in the manufacturing, construction or infrastructure industries:
minimum 18 years of age
prior logged experience in crane operations is an advantage
a good command of the English language, both written and oral, is recommended
personal protective equipment: long pants, long-sleeved shirt and safety boots to be worn during training
a USI number must be obtained before the start of the class

a pre-training telephone review and language and literacy test may be required
