It is preferable that students have at a minimum:

Applicants must demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessment area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. The online Diploma of Community Services provides you with the knowledge and skills required to work as a professional community services worker, across a variety of settings within the social and community services industry.
Entry Requirements

This is an accelerated program with a significant self-directed learning component. Students can expect to spend a minimum of 12 hours per week engaged with learning outside of their class hours. To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants need to provide evidence of one of the following within the past five years:

- Successful completion of a scored VCE (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of a Certificate III level or higher qualification
- Two years of relevant work experience

Following your on-campus interview for this program, it may be recommended that you study an on-campus version of the program or undertake a foundation program to prepare for the rigours of online study.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old when the course starts, and they need to commit to completing 200 hours of mandatory fieldwork placement during their course. These hours can be completed part-time or in a block, but they will take place during business hours and require a commute of up to 1.5 hours each way to the placement location.

Before starting their practical placement, applicants must provide a clear National Criminal History (Police) Check and a Working with Children Check.
