Charles Darwin University (CDU) Courses

There are no specific entry requirements.

However, to ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL&N) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, master s degree or equivalent international qualification in a relevant field.

Consideration will also be given to those who do not have one of the above qualifications, but who have at least five years relevant professional experience, for example in tertiary education, adult education, learning design or digital technology training. Applicants must provide further documentation in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application.

Participants must have access to a commercial kitchen to complete this Skills Set. This may be their place of employment that operates a permanent or temporary kitchen premises, smaller food preparation or bar areas, or another suitable venue they have arranged access to.

To enrol at CDU, you will need to complete and submit the Incoming Cross Institutional Enrolment (non-CDU students) form available at Forms and guides

Your home university will need to approve your intention to study at CDU. Please see the form for further details.

If you are a Commonwealth Supported student, you will also need to submit a HECS-HELP form. You can obtain this form at your home university, or contact us to have one posted to you.

CDU Domestic Entry Requirements

This is a physically demanding course and students must be fit, active and able to function effectively in a tropical environment. The industry is seeking people with a strong work ethic, an optimistic approach to life, a desire to continually improve, and who possess integrity and strong moral character.

Students must have basic literacy and numeracy skills to read, write and record basic measurements.

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent).
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 125 or higher.
• Successful completion of a recognised tertiary preparation course.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.

Mainstream students

Students will need to demonstrate an solid level 2 or emerging level 3 language, literacy an numeracy against the ACSF to undertake this course.

VSS Students

Vet for Secondary Students will need to complete a VET for Secondary Students NT Department of Education compliant (year) Expression of interest Form. Upon receival of this form students may be required to undertake an LLN assessment and an interview to determine suitably for the program.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification in a health-related field (inclusive of biomedical science, science, health sciences, nutrition, food science and exercise science);
Applicants must have attained a GPA of at least 5.00 in their bachelor degree;
A written statement detailing the following:

• Why you are interested in the field of dietetics;
• Your reasons for undertaking this course;
• Any relevant work experience and skills.

The completion of specified units undertaken in prior qualifications. This must be evidenced in your transcripts along with unit outlines from the year study was undertaken. Pay close attention to the study order sequence of the units listed below.

• 2 Chemistry units (0.25 EFTSL)
• 2 Biochemistry units (0.25 EFTSL) studied after the completion of your chemistry units
• 2 Human Biology units (0.25 EFTSL)
• 2 Human Physiology units (0.25 ETFSL) studied after the completion of your human biology units
• 2 Food and Nutrition Science units (0.25 EFTSL)

At CDU 0.25 EFTSL is equivalent to 20 credit points.

To gain entry into VTP442 NT White Card, candidates require:

• A Unique Student Identifier - www.usi.gov.au
• Enrolment via online or paper based systems
• Enclosed footwear
• Note-taking equipment

Students will need to demonstrate an appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge to undertake a course at this level.

Statement of attainment must be taken to the Territory Business Centre office closest to you, within 60 days of issuance, to receive your NT White Card.
