Charles Darwin University (CDU) Courses

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 80*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Diploma level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma with a GPA of at least 5.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 157.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course of at least 12 months duration.

* After any applicable adjustment factors have been applied.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification however a pre-enrolment process to establish suitability to undertake the course and to determine support requirements will be conducted, which will include a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification.

It is a CDU requirement that students have completed at least half of the applicable sea service before commencement of the course.

This qualification is required to obtain an AMSA certificate of competency as a Coxswain Grade 1 NC as defined in the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D.

AMSA certification will require:

• achieving MAR20321 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)
• a Marine Radio Operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency
• sea service consisting of 30 days qualifying sea service and a completed AMSA approved task book OR 240 days of qualifying sea service
• meeting the medical and eyesight requirements specified in the NSCV Part D and
• assessment by an AMSA approved assessor using the AMSA mandated practical assessment (AMPA) conducted on a commercial vessel >5.0m in length

To gain entry into AHC40122 Certificate IV in Agriculture, candidates require:

• be fit, active and able to function effectively in a tropical environment, as this is a physically demanding course; and
• students must have a work contract with an approved employer to undertake a traineeship.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or equivalent international qualification in a relevant field.

Consideration will also be given to those who do not have one of the above qualifications, but who have at least five years relevant professional experience, for example in policy development, research, governance or service delivery. Applicants must provide further documentation in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application.
