Entry Requirements

This course is only available for First Nations peoples who would like to pursue a career in health, teacher education, arts and humanities, or STEM.

To participate in this program you must be 17 years or over and completed at least Year 10 or equivalent. If you are a mature person without completion of Year 10, you can still apply based on your skills and experience.

Students in the program will be supported through peer-to-peer learning and mentoring.

There are no mandatory entry requirements for this qualification. However, applicants who wish to commence this course need to have completed CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health. The required skills and knowledge to undertake the qualification at this level; e.g. completion of Year 10 or equivalent, and a general command of spoken and written English, to be able to meet industry standards for communication. Generally, candidates will require evidence of the following for work placement:-

Applications for 2024 will open from 1st March 2024 and will close on 6th April 2024. The course focuses on the practical components of providing clinical care in the paediatric and neonatal retrieval setting which includes a 3-day teaching block held at Charles Darwin University, Casuarina Campus.

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

- Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 70*.

- Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate IV level or higher.

- Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma with a GPA of at least 5.

- Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.

- Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 147.

- Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program or the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
