This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.
To enter the Executive Master of Business Administration programme you will:
have been awarded or qualified for a relevant bachelor's degree, or equivalent
have at least seven years business experience, at least three of which must be at management level.
You will be selected into the programme on the basis of the selection process.
Gain the skills to further your business career or for further study in the MBA with the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration.

A bachelor's degree OR
Graduate diploma OR
Relevant professional qualification or professional experience approved to be equivalent to a bachelor's degree
AND
Have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience since gaining the degree or other qualification
Applicants who do not have a tertiary qualification are expected to provide evidence of relevant professional experience deemed, by the Assessment Board, to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree. This would typically be 10 years work experience of which 3-4 is in a supervisory or management capacity. Candidates may also be required to complete an aptitude test and/or attend an interview.
The degree of Doctor of Business Administration is awarded on the basis of submission of a thesis and the completion of coursework consisting of six papers. The coursework is an integral and constitutive part of the thesis research of the degree.

Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce).
Every applicant must either
be a graduate with a bachelor's honours degree and a postgraduate diploma, or a master's degree in a business discipline, or
in exceptional cases, have alternative equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce).
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their previous academic record (normally with a grade average of at least B+), their graduate experience and academic achievements, their commitment to the field of business, evidence that they are committed to ongoing education, and reports from three referees.
Every applicant will normally have at least ten years of experience as a professional in business and demonstrate evidence of leadership in their field.
Every applicant must present evidence of ability for advanced level of academic study.
Initial admission to the programme shall be provisional; it shall be confirmed after successfully completing the coursework component, with no grade below B+ and after a research proposal has been satisfactorily presented at the Oral Confirmation Seminar as part of the residential component of BDBA 906 Research Methodology II.
If admission to the programme is not confirmed, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Commerce) may approve provisional admission of up to one further year or the candidate shall be required to withdraw from the programme.

Provide evidence you satisfy our criteria for existing English proficiency; or

The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDipBusAdmin) is a part-time executive education programme for experienced managers, professionals and administrators.

The University of Canterbury's Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is a key professional milestone for many aspiring and accomplished business leaders.
Entry Requirements
Students must be approved by the Dean of Business, who will take account of the relevance and standard of previous studies and experience.
Any bachelor's degree, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, must have been completed with good grades, and at least five years' work experience is required.
If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration pathway
You may choose to first enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and later progress into the full MBA programme. The Diploma includes the same core courses as the MBA, and you will attend the same classes as MBA students.

The Master of Business Administration (Otago MBA ) degree is an intensive two-phase programme. Phase One comprises ten months of on-campus study of core papers. This is followed by a highly flexible Phase Two of on-campus electives, international exchange or a business project.

hold an acceptable professional qualification, or

Applicants will be expected to have first obtained a satisfactory result in the Graduate Management Admission Test or the Otago MBA Admission Test.
Applicants who wish to enter the programme from the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration programme will be exempted from the provisions of regulation 1(c) if they have average grades of at least B+ in the six papers taken for the diploma.

If you're a graduate of Unitec's Bachelor of Business, you cannot be admitted to the Graduate Diploma in Business in the same specialisation in which you majored in the degree 3. A minimum of 8 credits at NCEA Level 2 in English (4 in reading, 4 in writing) 4. If English is your second language, you are required to have one or more of the following:
Have achieved NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University entrance
Pearson Test of English (Academic): 50 with no score lower than 50
Be able to provide evidence you satisfy our criteria for existing English proficiency

The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDipBA) offers an entry pathway to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. It consists of the core courses of the MBA programme.

Applicants will be approved by the Programme Committee, who will take the standard of previous studies and experience into account.
You must have evidence of extensive practical, professional, or scholarly experience of an appropriate kind; students normally require at least five years' work experience.
