The Art of Hospitality Service

<div><p>This entry level programme is designed to give you a broad understanding and awareness of the travel and tourism industry. You'll learn from expert tutors, plus a wide range of guest speakers, and you'll visit a range of travel and tourism-related operations.</p> <p>You'll also gain skills and knowledge in researching and evaluating travel and tourism products; planning itineraries; customer service and sales, team work, and essential workplace/industry practices, policies and legislation. These experiences will help you decide which roles or areas within travel or tourism you might wish to pursue.</p>   <p>To meet Health and Safety requirements, applicants must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry emulated environment.</p>  </div>

Introduction to Hospitality

<div><p>If you have a disability, this course provides you with a supported learning environment to help you transition from school to the workplace.</p> <p>You'll gain first-hand experience in cookery, baking, restaurant service and hospitality service. You'll also participate in practical activities like eating out and preparing a light meal, plus you'll learn about personal safety and basic hospitality terminology.</p>  <p>Students must be physically able to participate in all kitchen activities and meet the demands of commercial hospitality environments.</p>  <p>Dual Enrolment programmes are FREE if you're in Years 11, 12 or 13 and a great way to earn NCEA credits and get a feel for tertiary study, while you're still at school.</p>  <p>Location: Christchurch</p></div>

Hospitality Supported Learning (Level 1)

<div><p>Our Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications degree specialising in journalism is a highly practical programme providing you with the skills and theory to break news stories and be actively involved with the production of news for radio, television or online media.</p> <p>Early in your studies you'll gain a strong grounding in broadcasting and communications theory, writing and researching news bulletins for our radio station. You'll also report TV news stories for broadcast and online.</p> <p>In close collaboration with our media partners, our programme has been designed to produce graduates who will meet the needs of the industry. Our 24-week industry internship gives you more real-world experience, builds your industry contacts and gives you a real edge when it comes to securing your first job.</p></div>

Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications (Journalism)

<div><p>One of the most important resources in an organisation is its people. This specialisation will develop your management skills and knowledge in people and culture. During your studies you'll analyse organisational staff behaviour and its impact on business, and learn about wellbeing leadership, health and safety and the latest employment legislation. In your final year you'll explore advanced HR strategy and contemporary issues in human resource management.</p>    <p>Flexibility has been built into this degree, allowing you to not only to study part-time, full-time and/or in the evenings, but to choose two specialisations at no extra cost and requiring no additional time. Alternatively, you can personalise your degree by including up to five elective courses (Level 5 and above, equal to 15 credits each) from any subject area of your choosing.</p></div>

<div><p>In this graduate diploma you'll develop an understanding of human resource management practices and processes and their impacts on organisational effectiveness. You'll also learn how to apply human resource management principles, tools and concepts in the workplace, to help staff and businesses meet their objectives.</p>    <p>Areas of study will include employment relations, organisational behaviour, human resource management, contemporary issues in human resource management and health, safety and wellbeing leadership. Additionally, you'll channel the knowledge and skills you acquire into a practical industry project for a local business or organisation, in which you'll address business issues or advance business opportunities. In the process, you'll strengthen your understanding of human resource management.</p>    <p>Part-time up to four years.</p></div>

Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management

<div><p>This programme looks in-depth at a wide range of retail-related areas, with a focus on strategic decision making around the resources used to develop and sustain a high performing retail business.</p> <p>Areas covered include ownership models, channel management, human capital, technology use and adoption, customer experience and merchandising.</p> <p>You'll learn how to critically evaluate management and marketing concepts in a range of retailing environments; identify and analyse opportunities for improvement; and create strategies for building and sustaining a retail enterprise.</p> <p>In addition, you'll have the opportunity to utilise all that you've learned during a 400 hour internship in a real-world retail environment. <div><p>This programme has been designed to ensure that when you graduate you'll have the knowledge and skills needed for this dynamic industry, and that you can be a flexible, future-focused, creative leader who can adapt to changing circumstances.</p> <p>Your studies will cover: hospitality and tourism trends; marketing strategies for local and international hospitality and tourism contexts; financial management strategies; business analysis for hospitality and tourism; communication; self-management; problem solving; teamwork and planning. In addition, you'll explore New Zealand's heritage and indigenous Maori culture, and gain an understanding of sustainability issues relating to tourism, such as its impact on the environment.</p> <p>You'll learn how to operate in a broad range of contexts and you'll examine the technology used in the industry (including the impact of social media on marketing, revenue management, customer relationships, and reputation management). Much of your study will take place in simulated tourism and hospitality environments using authentic situations. You'll also undertake a research project investigating a real-world hospitality workplace issue, and work experience within the sector.</p>   <p>To meet Health and Safety requirements, applicants must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry emulated environment.</p></div>
