You'll learn from expert tutors, plus a wide range of guest speakers, and you'll visit a range of travel and tourism-related operations.</p> <p>You'll also gain skills and knowledge in researching and evaluating travel and tourism products; planning itineraries; customer service and sales, team work, and essential workplace/industry practices, policies and legislation. These experiences will help you decide which roles or areas within travel or tourism you might wish to pursue.</p>   <p>To meet Health and Safety requirements, applicants must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry emulated environment.</p>  </div>

Introduction to Hospitality

<div><p>If you have a disability, this course provides you with a supported learning environment to help you transition from school to the workplace.</p> <p>You'll gain first-hand experience in cookery, baking, restaurant service and hospitality service. You'll also participate in practical activities like eating out and preparing a light meal, plus you'll learn about personal safety and basic hospitality terminology.</p>  <p>Students must be physically able to participate in all kitchen activities and meet the demands of commercial hospitality environments.</p>  <p>Dual Enrolment programmes are FREE if you're in Years 11, 12 or 13 and a great way to earn NCEA credits and get a feel for tertiary study, while you're still at school.</p>  <p>Location: Christchurch</p></div>

Hospitality Supported Learning (Level 1)

<div><p>This programme looks in-depth at a wide range of retail-related areas, with a focus on strategic decision making around the resources used to develop and sustain a high performing retail business.</p> <p>Areas covered include ownership models, channel management, human capital, technology use and adoption, customer experience and merchandising.</p> <p>You'll learn how to critically evaluate management and marketing concepts in a range of retailing environments; identify and analyse opportunities for improvement; and create strategies for building and sustaining a retail enterprise.</p> <p>In addition, you'll have the opportunity to utilise all that you've learned during a 400 hour internship in a real-world retail environment. <div><p>This comprehensive, hands-on programme covers project management, operations management and e-commerce in relation to supply chain logistics.</p> <p>You'll learn from industry experts how to identify important phases of supply chain and logistical management from internal and external perspectives; evaluate and critique existing operations; identify supply chain and logistical issues; and create effective and sustainable management solutions.</p> <p>You'll also gain a practical understanding of e-commerce and its role in business; develop concepts and analytical methods for managing people and resources; explore the basic principles and terminology of project management; and appraise project plans using MSProject.</p> <p>A key component of your studies will be a work placement of 400 hours. During this time you'll be immersed in a real-word industry environment and have the opportunity to produce work of the highest quality as evidence of your development. Bachelor of Applied Management (Supply Chain Logistics)

<div><p>This programme has been designed to ensure that when you graduate you'll have the knowledge and skills needed for this dynamic industry, and that you can be a flexible, future-focused, creative leader who can adapt to changing circumstances.</p> <p>Your studies will cover: hospitality and tourism trends; marketing strategies for local and international hospitality and tourism contexts; financial management strategies; business analysis for hospitality and tourism; communication; self-management; problem solving; teamwork and planning. In addition, you'll explore New Zealand's heritage and indigenous Maori culture, and gain an understanding of sustainability issues relating to tourism, such as its impact on the environment.</p> <p>You'll learn how to operate in a broad range of contexts and you'll examine the technology used in the industry (including the impact of social media on marketing, revenue management, customer relationships, and reputation management). Much of your study will take place in simulated tourism and hospitality environments using authentic situations. <div><p>Throughout this programme, core competencies of project management, operations management, resource integration and supply chain logistics are combined to identify and address present-day supply chain issues.</p>    <p>Quantitative techniques will lay the foundation for sound decision-making and problem-solving to address operational issues, while qualitative content will explore the best methods for planning, organising and strategy formulation from the managerial perspective. In addition, electives in B2B sales and marketing or health and safety leadership will enable you to expand your capabilities to lead and support supply chain logistics.</p>    <p>You'll also channel the knowledge and skills you acquire into a practical industry project for a local business or organisation, in which you'll address business issues or advance business opportunities. In the process, you'll strengthen your understanding of supply chain logistics.</p>  </div>
