The Art of Hospitality Service

<div><p>This entry level programme is designed to give you a broad understanding and awareness of the travel and tourism industry. You'll learn from expert tutors, plus a wide range of guest speakers, and you'll visit a range of travel and tourism-related operations.</p> <p>You'll also gain skills and knowledge in researching and evaluating travel and tourism products; planning itineraries; customer service and sales, team work, and essential workplace/industry practices, policies and legislation. These experiences will help you decide which roles or areas within travel or tourism you might wish to pursue.</p>   <p>To meet Health and Safety requirements, applicants must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry emulated environment.</p>  </div>

<p>Could hospitality be the career for you? Find out by using our kitchen, bar and barista facilities, under the guidance of our expert tutors. Try your hand at making a delicious burger in our commercial kitchen and create a mocktail in our training bar or a hot beverage in our barista training room. Once you're done, you get to eat and drink your creations.</p>

Introduction to Hospitality

<div><p>If you have a disability, this course provides you with a supported learning environment to help you transition from school to the workplace.</p> <p>You'll gain first-hand experience in cookery, baking, restaurant service and hospitality service. You'll also participate in practical activities like eating out and preparing a light meal, plus you'll learn about personal safety and basic hospitality terminology.</p>  <p>Students must be physically able to participate in all kitchen activities and meet the demands of commercial hospitality environments.</p>  <p>Dual Enrolment programmes are FREE if you're in Years 11, 12 or 13 and a great way to earn NCEA credits and get a feel for tertiary study, while you're still at school.</p>  <p>Location: Christchurch</p></div>

Hospitality Supported Learning (Level 1)

<div><p>This programme looks in-depth at a wide range of retail-related areas, with a focus on strategic decision making around the resources used to develop and sustain a high performing retail business.</p> <p>Areas covered include ownership models, channel management, human capital, technology use and adoption, customer experience and merchandising.</p> <p>You'll learn how to critically evaluate management and marketing concepts in a range of retailing environments; identify and analyse opportunities for improvement; and create strategies for building and sustaining a retail enterprise.</p> <p>In addition, you'll have the opportunity to utilise all that you've learned during a 400 hour internship in a real-world retail environment. Bachelor of Applied Management (Retail Management)

<div><p>This programme has been designed to ensure that when you graduate you'll have the knowledge and skills needed for this dynamic industry, and that you can be a flexible, future-focused, creative leader who can adapt to changing circumstances.</p> <p>Your studies will cover: hospitality and tourism trends; marketing strategies for local and international hospitality and tourism contexts; financial management strategies; business analysis for hospitality and tourism; communication; self-management; problem solving; teamwork and planning. In addition, you'll explore New Zealand's heritage and indigenous Maori culture, and gain an understanding of sustainability issues relating to tourism, such as its impact on the environment.</p> <p>You'll learn how to operate in a broad range of contexts and you'll examine the technology used in the industry (including the impact of social media on marketing, revenue management, customer relationships, and reputation management). Much of your study will take place in simulated tourism and hospitality environments using authentic situations. You'll also undertake a research project investigating a real-world hospitality workplace issue, and work experience within the sector.</p>   <p>To meet Health and Safety requirements, applicants must be physically able to undertake the practical components of the programme in an industry emulated environment.</p></div>
