Entry Requirements

Admission to this course is restricted to applicants who have been selected and approved by their Government agency.

Applicants must have a degree or equivalent as approved by the University's Admissions Committee and be currently employed in an Australian Commonwealth, State, or Territory Government Department, OR hold two or more years of relevant work experience.

Assumed knowledge

Essential knowledge: A good working knowledge of the public sector; commitment and the ability to contribute to class learning, to learn from others and to share learning in the workplace; strong commitment to career development; and capacity to complete a rigorous program of study. Desirable but not essential knowledge would include some familiarity with fundamental theories and concepts underpinning effective public policy development, a good feel for the difficulties of delivering results in government and experience of applying theory and analysing data to solve real world public policy problems.

Entry Requirements

An applicant may apply for entry into the Professional Doctorate Business Administration (Research) program and the Faculty will determine their eligibility based upon evidence provided which includes:

a) evidence of knowledge in an area relevant to the proposed doctoral topic;
b) five years of professional practice at a senior level in a relevant area of business, government or law
c) evidence of previous study as demonstrated by a coursework Masters or other education an area relevant to the proposed doctoral topic; and
d) demonstrated ability to undertake complex thinking and problem solving.

Plus all applicants will:

e) meet the University's minimum English proficiency requirements for entry into higher degree by research courses;
f) satisfy any additional requirements specified for admission of the particular applicant, consistent with University policy.

Additional admission requirements

Candidates must comply with all requirements of current University of Canberra HDR policies, including those governing submission and examination of theses. Panels of examiners for the award of the Professional Doctorate (Research) (Business Administration) must always include at least one international examiner from a university, research centre or other knowledge node outside Singapore.

Assumed knowledge

Sufficient knowledge relevant to the study area to enable identification of a need for a new research contribution to an area of professional practice. This includes advanced knowledge of business and organisational contexts.

Entry Requirements

Before a candidate is admitted to the Doctor of Public Administration, the Faculty must be satisfied that it is able to supervise the candidate's proposed dissertation and that the candidate satisfies the following admission requirements:
(a) holds at minimum a Bachelor degree and a post-Bachelor Honours year by research, or a Master or Graduate Diploma degree of 1 to 2 years full-time duration in a relevant field with a credit or greater average and evidence of having performed in some subjects relevant to the proposed study at Distinction level or above;
(b) has five years of professional practice in a relevant area;
(c) provides evidence of capacity for independent research under the guidance of a supervisory panel at the doctoral level and relevant professional development; and
(d) provides evidence of superior professional performance both intellectually and technically.

A requirement for proceeding to the research component of the degree is completion of the coursework component of the degree and the acceptance and approval of a research proposal and research plan by the course convener.

Entry Requirements

Entry to the Master of Educational Leadership and Management normally requires the possession of a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelors degree or recognised equivalent and a minimum of three years relevant work experience. In addition, entry to the Master of Educational Leadership and Management requires that a student must have:

(a) successfully completed of Hangzhou Normal University's English language preparation course;
(b) an undergraduate degree in education or a related area;
(c) a minimum three years work experience in education, education administration or public administration; and
(d) successfully completed at least four Masters units at Hangzhou Normal University.
