• To be eligible for admission, a person must have completed the program requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent award), including all courses listed as pre-requisites for entry into honours, with a GPA of at least 5.5 for an approved combination of courses.
• Applicants who completed an equivalent award must demonstrate that an equivalent body of knowledge has been gained to an equivalent standard. Entry to the program for these applicants may be subject to completion of additional work.
• Approval is required from the executive dean where the degree used for entry was completed more than two years prior to program commencement. If enrolment is approved, the executive dean may set conditions.

• a graduate certificate* in a relevant discipline, or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, plus 2 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience (see below).

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

*Please note if a graduate certificate is used as the basis of entry into the program and you do not have a degree in a relevant discipline, you will not be eligible for credit towards the Masters program.

Relevant disciplines include:

• communication, journalism, public relations, mass media, media studies, film and television, writing, advertising, marketing, business management, event management, psychology, sociology, international relations, peace and conflict studies, community development, rural development, social work, speech pathology, linguistics, criminology, educational studies, anthropology, political science, digital studies, information technology.

You must have completed at least a major, field of study, or approximately 30% of program content including a mix of introductory and advanced courses.

Relevant work experience, which should be supported with evidence (see below), includes work:

• in communication, public relations, marketing, advertising or community development roles, or
• as a journalist/reporter/media producer or researcher in communication related fields, or
• in any other profession in which a portfolio was built up demonstrating communication expertise.

Evidence of relevant work experience should include a letter from your employer (and/or previous employers) stating the following:

• That you work (or worked) within the specified organisation
• The length that you were there (i.e. 3 years)
• The level at which you worked (full-time, part-time* or casual*)

*if you worked part-time or casual, please list the average amount of hours worked per week

• a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale, and
• a GPA of at least 4.5 at the first attempt for 8 units of courses at level 3 or higher relevant to the honours project (with a maximum of 2 units for a research project), and
• have secured an honours project and supervisor, and
• satisfied any additional requirements set by the head of school.

• a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale, and
• a GPA of at least 4.5 at the first attempt for 8 units of courses at level 3 or higher relevant to the honours project (with a maximum of 2 units for a research project), and
• have secured an honours project and supervisor, and

To be eligible to complete the degree in 1 year

• a bachelor honours degree* (or equivalent) in education, or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in education, plus 2 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience (see below).

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

*You must have completed a substantial research project in your Honours degree equivalent to at least one semester of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).

Relevant work experience includes significant and substantive experience in:

• education contexts such as schools, service delivery agencies, government agencies, or
• alternative education settings working with children, adolescents or adults, with roles and responsibilities such as, teaching, program/curriculum development, assessment, educational leadership, administration, youth support, allied health, and sport sciences.

Evidence of relevant work experience should include a letter from your employer (and/or previous employers) stating the following:

• That you work (or have worked) within the specified educational setting
• The length of time that you were employed (i.e. 2 years)
• The capacity at which you worked (full-time, part-time* or casual*)

*if part-time or casual, please list the average number of hours worked per week.

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or software engineering, or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) which includes all of the relevant discipline content (see below), or
• to have completed post-secondary studies and 2 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience (see below). Applications based on post-secondary study and/or work experience will be individually assessed.

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or software engineering, or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) which includes all of the relevant discipline content (see below), or
• to have completed post-secondary studies and 2 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience (see below). Applications based on post-secondary study and/or work experience will be individually assessed.

If your bachelor's degree was not awarded in computer science or software engineering, you must have successfully completed all of the following discipline content in your tertiary studies:

• data structures and algorithms
• at least 2 programming courses
• discrete mathematics or algebra
• at least 3 from the following:
• computer organisation or computer architecture or computer systems
• computer networks or communication networks
• operating systems
• databases or information systems
• probability and statistics

Relevant work experience includes professional experience in software development or engineering, cyber security analysis or architecture, data engineering or science, machine learning, computer networks or statistical analysis that involves programming experience and work experience in at least two of the following areas:

• computer organisation or computer architecture or computer systems
• computer networks or communication networks
• operating systems
• databases or information systems
• probability and statistics

This will need to be supported with evidence.

Evidence of relevant work experience should include a letter from your employer (and/or previous employers) clearly stating the following:

• That you work (or worked) within the specified organisation
• The nature of your work, detailing any relevant duties and responsibilities to the entry criteria above
• The length of time you were in your role/s (i.e demonstrating minimum length for entry) and whether this was full-time, part-time, or casual
• Any further bespoke conditions listed by the entry criteria

Letters will typically be expected to be presented on company letterhead and signed by a manager or HR representative. A CV or resume is not a sufficient document on its own, and must be accompanied by a supporting letter as described above.

All applications based on work experience are subject to an individual assessment.

Entry into a program through work experience does not necessarily provide a pathway into further study in a Masters.
