There are no prescribed training package requirements.

Once you have applied for the course you will attend an information and enrolment session. At this session and prior to enrolment CIT requires prospective students to achieve the following:

- Demonstrate an expressed interest in working with older people in a residential setting. Applicants may be interviewed to demonstrate interest in complex client support, policies and procedures of residential aged care and genuine interest to work with diverse colleagues and clients. A course advisor will make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you and identify additional support where required.
- Demonstrate the appropriate literacy and numeracy skills by undertaking a literacy and numeracy assessment task provided by CIT. You will need to achieve a score of 3 in most categories in a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND).
- Dependent on the outcome of this assessment task you may be required to undertake additional Foundation Skills subjects to support your learning and success in this course.

Prior to placement, students must:
- Provide a National Police Check
- ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration.
- Evidence of required vaccinations.

For the duration of study, students will need:
- Reliable internet and device for online study, research, and assessment submission.
- If you are entering this course as a Trainee/Apprentice under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment

This course provides the required knowledge and skills for qualified plumbers and gasfitters to register for a Restricted Electrical Licence (REL). This course is also open to late stage plumbing apprentices who are currently supervised by a supervisor who holds the Restricted Electrical Licence.

Be a licenced tradesperson employed in the following trades only: Plumbing and gas fitter, Type B gas appliances, or Refrigeration Air Conditioning or other trade that is eligible, where disconnection and reconnection of electrical wiring is a component of the work performed.

Be currently undertaking an apprenticeship in the plumbing trade under the supervision of an individual with a Restricted Electrical Licence.
