Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent.

Entry Requirements
For this programme, you'll need one of the following:
1. Completed the New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 3); or

3. If English is not your first language, you need one or more of the following:
Have achieved NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University Entrance
Be able to provide evidence you satisfy our criteria for existing English proficiency
Have achieved at least one English proficiency outcome in the last two years

Provide sufficient evidence of aptitude, appropriate work, or other life experience as approved by the Academic Leader

Domestic students
Academic requirements
You must have completed at least one of the following:
A minimum of 60 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, with at least 3 'C' passes in the New Zealand University Bursaries Examinations;
A minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 in Physics and
A minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 in Mathematics (including Algebra and calculus); and
A minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 in one other subject from the list of approved NZQA UE subjects and
A minimum of 18 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional subjects from the approved subjects listed at NZQA;
Successful completion of New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electrical)
Equivalent academic qualifications may include:
University Bursary with 45% or more in both Physics and Calculus or Algebra or
Equivalent Cambridge score; or
Equivalent International Baccalaureate
And meet one of the English entry requirements;
University Entrance Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above in English or Maori (5 in Reading, 5 in Writing); or
Provide evidence that they have the English language proficiency required for the Programme as demonstrated through evidence of one of the kinds described in NZQA Rules on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students Web-page.

International studentsAcademic requirements
As a part of this requirement, you must be at least 16 years of age and meet one of the below;
Successful completion of New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electrical)
All applicants must be at least 16 years of age when they begin their studies, and they should meet the country-specific admission requirement;
And English entry requirements;
If English is not your first language, you will also need at least one of the following qualifications:
Evidence of an IELTS (Academic) band score of at least 6 with writing and speaking scores no less than 6.0 and reading and listening bands no less than 5.5; or
University Entrance Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above in English or Maori (5 in Reading, 5 in Writing); or
Evidence of English language proficiency as outlined in the NZQA Rules on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students Web-page.
