About this course

This combined postgraduate course Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) / Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation is for students who wish to become entrepreneurial leaders and managers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering. Students will develop electrical and electronic engineering discipline specific knowledge and technical skills, whilst developing specialist skills needed to lead and manage the process of innovation, business startups, high growth and rapid change.

The course will have an applied industry focus and present units of study relevant to professional practice and contemporary research in these fields.

The course is tailored for both those who want to create new enterprises and those who want to bring new attitudes and possibilities to existing ventures. The skills involved are common to all sizes of organisations, whether public sector, private sector or non-profit.

The Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) / Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation consists of 15 units (200 credit points, includes one project unit worth 25 credit points). Units normally carry 12.5 credit points. This course is available on a full-time or part-time* basis. In each academic year, two units (25 credit points) per semester would normally constitute a part-time load and four units (50 credit points) per semester constitute a full-time load. The typical part-time student's average weekly workload is expected to be 25 hours of personal study and class attendance time. For full-time students this would equate to 50 hours per week. To qualify for the Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) / Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, students must complete 15 units (200 credit points) comprising:

7 Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) units, made up of:

4 Technical units (50 credit points)
1 Elective unit (12.5 credit points)
2 Research units: 1 Research Methods unit (12.5 credit points); 1 Research Minor Project (25 credit points)

8 Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation units, made up of:

8 Core units (100 credit points)

* Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time and on campus.
