    You must have completed at least one of the following:

    • A recognised Bachelor's degree in the same or similar discipline, with merit achievement deemed to be an average of B- or higher in all Level 7 courses; or
    • A professional qualification in a relevant discipline, recognised as being equivalent to merit achievement in a Bachelor's degree
    And meet one of the English entry requirements;
    • University Entrance Literacy: 8 credits at Level 2 or above in English or Maori (4 in Reading, 4 in Writing); or
    • Evidence of English language proficiency as outlined in the NZQA Rules on the Unitec English Language Requirements for International Students Web-page.
    Non-Academic requirements
    • A significant portfolio of professional work sufficient to enable critical reflection on your prior practice

    To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Arts you will have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor of Arts (or equivalent) with a major in the intended postgraduate subject.

    You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

    • In exceptional circumstances, an applicant who does not meet the requirements above, but who has an appropriate combination of academic and professional experience may be considered for admission

    Admission is based on the submission of a proposal outlining the territory of exploration, and the nature of the project to be undertaken by the applicant. It is useful and usual for potential applicants to make an appointment to discuss their interests, before submitting their proposal.

    The Master of Arts (MA) degree consists of taught coursework, which may include internship opportunities, and independent research in a wide variety of Arts subjects.

    Entry Requirements

    You will need to have qualified for an Aotearoa New Zealand bachelor's degree (or other qualifications of an equivalent standard).

    You must also satisfy the prerequisites for a major subject. Prerequisites vary between departments, but normally good grades in 300-level courses in the subject is required.

    If you do not meet the prerequisites in your chosen subject, you may be able to complete a qualifying course, or substitute relevant professional practice or other work experience that satisfies your ability to pursue postgraduate-level studies in that subject.

    If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.
