    Entry Requirements

    To enter the Master of Food Technology you will have been awarded or qualified for:

    • a bachelor's degree in food engineering, food science or food technology, with a minimum B grade average over the 200- and 300-level courses, or equivalent, or
    • a Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours having achieved at least Second Class Honours, or equivalent.

    You will also provide a short summary of your research interests (200 words or less) with your application.

    You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

    The Bachelor of Social Work is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

    To enter the Bachelor of Social Work programme you will:

    • meet the requirements set down by the Social Workers Registration Act 2003 for registration as a social worker in New Zealand in terms of being ""fit and proper persons to practise social work"" - see: swrb.govt.nz/about-us/policies/
    • provide a curriculum vitae which includes your academic and work history
    • provide a personal statement explaining why you wish to enter the social work programme and profession
    • provide details of two character referees - these must not be family or friends
    • provide details of any convictions or charges pending in New Zealand and/or overseas
    • complete the vetting service request and consent form for a New Zealand Police check
    • provide a current police certificate from any overseas countries you have lived in for twelve months or more in the last ten years.
    • undertake an interview (if required).

    This programme is a 'selected entry' programme. This means as well as applying you will need to provide additional material as part of your application.

    To enter the Bachelor of Nursing you will hold a current First Aid Certificate from an approved provider.

    You will be selected into the programme on the basis of a process which includes providing:

    • a personal supporting statement of about 300 words explaining why you wish to enter the nursing programme and profession, including why you feel you would make a good nurse. List any personal characteristics you have that demonstrate your suitability.
    • a curriculum vitae of approximately three pages, which should include your academic and work history
    • provide details of two character referees - these must not be family or friends
    • if you are applying straight after completing secondary school (or a course at a private training establishment) you will supply a confidential report from your school or institution
    • complete the vetting service request and consent form for a New Zealand Police check - a criminal record check under the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004
    • provide a current police certificate from any overseas countries you have lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years
    • complete the Health and Disability Declaration.
    • An interview may be required.

    To become a registered nurse, you will also have requirements during and at the end of your study.

    Selection process

    The BTchLn has one intake each February. Selection for entry is based on:

    • Involvement and interest in working with children, community involvement, and other personal qualities as outlined in the Guide to Applying
    • a police check, referees' reports, and an interview
    • a short literacy and numeracy test
    • communication skills.

    Those wanting to enrol in the Matauranga Maori endorsement will also need to hui with the Endorsement Coordinator to determine the right starting point for you based on your level of te reo Maori.

    Applications are open throughout the year and close 1 December for domestic students, or 31 October for international students, to begin studies in February.

    The BMINN is open to enrolments in 2024.

    The BMINN is open to those with work in the iwi sector, which can include organisations owned by Maori, or a dedicated Kaupapa Maori team or unit within an organisation or government.

    Your employer will need to provide verification of your employment, and a partnership agreement with UC to make sure you have support for both your study commitments and workload.

    Admission to UC with University Entrance (or equivalent) is also required to enrol.

    Recommended preparation

    First year courses in the BMINN are introductory and no previous knowledge is required.

    Strong communication skills and a passion for te ao Maori will be useful for your studies.

    Note: The PMEG is currently not open to new enrolments. The Professional Master of Engineering Geology (PMEG) is the only programme of its kind in Australasia.

    Entry Requirements

    The PMEG is currently not open to new enrolments.

    You will need to have either:

    • a Bachelor of Science majoring in Geology or Earth Sciences; or
    • a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours majoring in Civil, Environmental, or Natural Resources Engineering; or
    • recognition of prior learning/work experience as assessed by the Programme Director.

    In addition you will need 15 points of MATH 100-level courses and 15 points from STAT 100-level courses. This requirement may be waived by the Head of Department if you can demonstrate an existing level of ability in mathematics and/or statistics.

    If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.

    Relevance of undergraduate studies to Engineering Geology and the standard of achievement are the main criteria for approval. You may be required to pass a qualifying programme prior to commencing the PMEG.

    A relevant tertiary qualification plus work experience may be deemed appropriate to meet the prerequisite training. You may also be required to complete preparatory courses prior to entry in this case.

    Students entering with a Bachelor of Science in Geology or Earth Sciences will normally be required to have passed GEOL351 Advanced Field Techniques and GEOL352 Advanced Field Mapping, and 60 other points in GEOL 300-level courses (with a Grade Point Average of normally a B) that meets the approval of the Head of Department.

    Financial engineering is a cross-disciplinary field combining financial and economic theory with the mathematical and computational tools needed to design and develop financial products, portfolios, markets, and regulations.

    Entry Requirements

    To enrol in the Master of Financial Engineering you should have:

    • a bachelor's degree with a B+ Grade Point Average in 300-level courses; and
    • completed specified 200-level MATH and STAT courses (or equivalent courses); and
    • been approved to enrol.

    If you have a minimal statistics and finance background, you may be required to take FIEC601 Quantitative Finance and Economics in January-February before enrolling.
