The Master of Philosophy aims to expand knowledge beyond the undergraduate honours or postgraduate diploma level, culminating in a research thesis. Upon completion of a master by research degree, you may apply to be considered for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.

To enter the Postgraduate Certificate in Arts you will have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor of Arts (or equivalent) with a major in the intended postgraduate subject.
You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Maori Visual Arts you will:
have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor of Maori Visual Arts, or
have been awarded a relevant bachelor's degree and provide evidence of appropriate professional experience and duration, or
sufficient practical, professional and scholarly experience at an appropriate level.
You are required to provide a portfolio if you have not completed a Bachelor of Maori Visual Arts with Massey University.
You must also provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.
In considering applications for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Maori Visual Arts, the University shall pay due regard to indigenous systems for the acquisition of knowledge and shall apply a fair, large and liberal interpretation to the concepts of 'scholarly experience' and 'academic work'.
Note: This programme may have an on-campus or in-person requirement and therefore requires that students submit a current My Vaccine Pass on enrolment. Massey is the only university to offer degrees in Maori visual arts.
