About the scholarship
Bond University is committed to providing opportunities in tertiary education for Indigenous Australians.
In 2018, Bond University will be providing an Indigenous pathway into its Medical Program*. As part of this initiative, Bond University has developed one 50% scholarship for one Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander student commencing in the 2018 Medical Program*.
This opportunity means that the successful applicant of the 50% scholarship will incur no up front cost to study the Bond University Medical Program* providing they are eligible for FEE-HELP and ABSTUDY.
People that identify as being Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander and are expected to meet the academic entry requirements are encouraged to apply. See further details on how to apply below.
Availability
One Bond University Indigenous Medical Scholarship will be awarded to a student commencing in the Bond University Medical Program* in 2018.
Students that are not successful in obtaining the scholarship may still be offered a place in the program; however they will incur the usual tuition fees.
Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must:
<ul><li>be Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander</li>
<li>meet the program prerequisites as per the Bond University Medical Program*</li>
</ul>*CONFIRMATION OF ABORIGINALITY - As part of Bond University Policy, Confirmation of Aboriginality is required. In order to apply for the Bond University Indigenous Medical Scholarship, applicants must apply through QTAC identifying as an Indigenous applicant during the QTAC application period of 16 January, 2018 and 1 February, 2018. The Office of Admissions from Bond University will contact all applicants requesting a Confirmation of Aboriginality document. This document needs to be provided within 10 working days from the initial request from the Office of Admissions.
The Confirmation of Aboriginality document must be a signed written statement (including a common seal) of an Aboriginal Heritage Association, Aboriginal Corporation or Land Council in the community where you live or have lived. The Bond University Indigenous Medical Scholarship offers 50% tuition remission for the Bond University Medical Program*.
Selection criteria
The Indigenous Pathway into the Medical Program* will be automatically initiated once you identify on your QTAC application form that you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Determining which applicants are offered a position into the Medical Program* and the awarding of the single full-fee paying scholarship will be based on:
<ul><li>Academic ability</li>
<li>Psychometric testing</li>
<li>Multi-Mini Interview (MMI)</li>
<li>Indigenous Community-Based Interview</li>
