Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing and Literature)

This degree increases your employment prospects by enabling you to gain expertise in two different areas of interest.

You'll have the opportunity to study a portion of your degree overseas, as part of the University's Hawke Ambassador Volunteer Experience Program. In this program you will volunteer with an international non-government organisation (NGO), usually in an overseas destination.

This specialisation allows you to delve into the English language. You will study historical and contemporary fiction, non-fiction, poetry, autobiographies, essays and plays. As you begin to create your own great classics, you will also learn how different oral and written texts have impacted cultures around the world. Under the guidance of highly experienced academics you will:

This degree allows you to select two majors, so you graduate with broad knowledge in two areas of interest. You can choose your second major from:

• Applied Linguistics

• Languages (French/Italian/Japanese)
• Law, Politics and Policy
• Performing Arts
• Psychology
• Screen Studies
• Social Media
• Sociology

You will also complete two core courses, four courses from a selected list of minors, and two electives.

You can gain an extra qualification and broaden your career prospects by completing a Diploma in Languages.

Graduates from this specialisation are qualified to embark on careers within the creative industries, advertising and publishing fields as authors, editors and researchers. You may gain employment in fields such as:

• document design
• electronic publishing
• marketing
• media
• administration
• public relations
• research
