Graduate Certificate in Building and Construction Information Management

The Graduate Certificate in Building & Construction Information Management (GC-BCIM) is a 1-year part-time course that will develop your skills and knowledge of modern technologies and practices in building construction information management.

Developed in response to ongoing industry changes, this course is designed alongside UC's existing strengths in building construction management education and in consultation with the building industry. Explore current and emerging methods for construction project management, procurement, contract administration and introduces students to Building Information Modelling technologies (BIM).

Study modes available:

On campus: all units are delivered face to face on campus.

Online: All units are completed online with self-paced learning, giving you the ultimate work, study and life balance.

Who is this course for:

Building industry professionals who may have no previous tertiary qualifications, but who have at least 5 years industry experience and are looking to gain an Australian Qualifications Framework approved tertiary qualification in building and construction.

Building industry professionals with an existing tertiary qualification in a related field who want to develop an advanced understanding of BIM technology or build upon their education towards a Masters of Building and Construction Management.

Alternative Entry Pathways

The University of Canberra is a strong supporter of lifelong education and recognises that not everyone comes into university through traditional pathways. For example, we know that often people with significant industry experience are excellent students who gain a lot from completing our courses.

If you do not hold a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline, we may consider your previous related work experience through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL enables admissions based on learning derived from work experience or a combination of qualification and work experience. The amount of work experience required will depend on your previous qualifications, ranging from 4 years (for example, if you have a TAFE advanced diploma) to 10 years if your highest qualification is a Year 12 certificate.

In general, the following documentation is required as part of the RPL assessment:

• an employer's letter validating work experience
• examples of work, training certificates and course outlines
• documented professional qualifications.
