About this course

Make a difference to someone else's quality of life and gain the skills and knowledge you need to start or further your career in Disability.

This course will equip you to support people with disability to live independently, promote choice and control, and enable opportunities to increase independence and skill development. You will learn how to read and follow individual plans, meet the legislative frameworks, work safely and become equipped to work within the disability sector. You will learn about skill development, community inclusion and current practices and frameworks that influence Disability work.

You will be required to participate in at least 120 hours of work placement to achieve the qualification.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will have the skills to undertake a number of entry-level roles in the Disability Sector or other community and health related fields.

*If you are already employed in the Aged Care or Disability industry, you may be interested in undertaking this course through an Australian Apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to provide evidence of the following during the application process:

  1. National Police check - Schedule 1- Any Child Related Activity

  2. Working with vulnerable people registration (Volunteer status)

  3. COVID vaccine - up to date

  4. Complete a *BKSB - English and Mathematics task to at least; ""Exit Level 2""

All applicants will be required to complete a *Basic Key Skills Builder (bksb) task. To ensure your Writing and Mathematic skills meet the required level (exit L2 working towards L3).

Account details and instructions will be sent to you within 24 hours of applying. If you have previously undertaken the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment - we will review your results and notify you if further action is required.
