Prepare yourself to work as education support workers in a primary or secondary school setting, assisting teachers in supporting the learning of students, often those requiring additional support and/or with a disability or additional learning needs in the classroom.
With a combination of online study, face-to-face workshop and work placement in a primary or secondary school setting, this course requires at least 100 hours of work placement.
You'll need:
- A laptop with a camera to bring to class
- Access to the internet at home for online study
- Digital literacy skills to enable them to work independently with our online platform (Moodle)
- Literacy skills to independently access course readings and other learning materials
- Microsoft Office 365 skills.

Our Certificate IV in School Based Education Support will give you the skills to assist teachers to support the learning of students in the classroom and work with students requiring additional support and/or with a disability or additional learning needs.
As part of this qualification, you'll need to have completed a total of least 100 hours of work in a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students, within at least one school in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

This course will equip you with the skills to work with teachers, primary and secondary school students, their families and other professionals in a school setting.
You will develop the skills and knowledge to enable them to provide enriching, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences and a supportive learning environment for primary and secondary school students. You'll develop knowledge in childhood development, literacy and numeracy development, behaviour management strategies, policy and legislation and curriculum implementation.
Through both the classroom and practical placements you will have the opportunity to set up learning experiences, become familiar with relevant policy and procedures and learn how to provide a safe learning and work environment.
