About this course

This qualification reflects the role of educators in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. These educators support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children's wellbeing, learning and development.

Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously. Students will also learn how to provide children with a safe and healthy environment and learn to provide for their individual needs.

This is only a partial completion of the qualification, students will need to complete the theory component as well as the placement component to a satisfactory standard to be deemed competent in each unit. Students will receive a Statement of Attainment at the completion of this program.

Please note: This qualification is delivered as a partial completion for VDSS students only. Given delivery is one day per week over two years, students complete 3 units one year and 4 units the other year plus a practical placement component linked to the respective units of competency. Students wishing to complete the full qualification will be required to undertake a further 10 units of competency to gain the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Students have the opportunity to undertake further study post completion of their VDSS study noting eligibility for funding and course entry requirements apply. Entry requirements

  • This course is for students undertaking the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM). Please contact your school for more information.
  • Students must obtain a clear police check and working with children's check to be eligible to complete the placement hours required.
