About this course

This qualification is a general purpose pathway into furthering a career in the financial services industry. Graduates will meet the requirements of Tier 1 - RG146. Financial Services graduates will use initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others or teams within defined guidelines. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

Course structure

Ten units must be successfully completed to gain the qualification. There is one core unit (Apply principles of professional practice to work in the financial services industry (FNSINC401) and nine units chosen in consultation with local industry. The course is designed to be completed over 12 months.All units are delivered online except the first class of each unit which is on campus at Croydon. The teaching model is based on the virtual classroom. Please note that students:

  • are expected to attend the online sessions
  • are required to submit a piece of work each week; either an assessment task or a discussion board item
  • unable to attend a Collaborate session because of work, travel and family commitments are expected to watch the session later. A teacher, not necessarily the same teacher from the initial session, will be available online and by phone on Thursdays between 6pm and 9pm for enquiries and clarifications.

Credit for prior study or work

Credit is granted in recognition of previous study and/or experience and allows students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Learn more about credit.
