Southern Cross University PhD candidate Sophie Pryor has been fascinated by the sea since she was a child. She is studying the effect of climate change on fish distribution and how fish will change their range as the ocean warms. She describes the experience of studying at the National Marine Science Centre, located on the border of the Solitary Islands Marine Park in Coffs Harbour.
" Growing up as a young person in this day and age, it's pretty obvious that there's a lot going on in our world, that is threatening the viability of our ocean and the environment.
Currently, there is limited information on how fish distribution is going t be affected by climate change. My research will provide managers and policymakers with a little bit more information about how fish are going to change their range as our oceans warm. "
