About this course

It applies to construction work on residential and commercial work sites in new construction, renovation or refurbishment, and maintenance projects.

As part of this skill set, you will learn to operare specific types of EWPs safely and effectively in different locations, including on uneven terrain. You will learn how to locate, set up, operate and shut down scissor lifts and self-propelled boom lifts with a boom length of under 11 metres.

Upon successful completion of this skill set, you will have the skills and knowledge to:

  • position, stabilise and set up elevating work platforms
  • understand elevated work platform characteristics and capabilities
  • estimate loads
  • identify hazards and assess risks associated with operation
  • conduct pre-operational checks and identify faults
  • check and assess condition of safety harness and lanyard.

This skill set is delivered over two days in-person at the RMIT Bundoora campus.
