Highlights

Provides a premium pathway into QUT's Master of Advanced Practice Nursing, Master of Public Health and Master of Health, Safety and Environment degrees.
Suitable for international students who have not met the minimum English language requirements to enter the Masters degree.
Advance your knowledge and skills in your chosen Health discipline and develop your English language capability and academic literacy.
Successful graduates will receive 1 semester of credit for prior learning (advanced standing) towards one of the approved posgraduate Health degrees.

Entry requirements

Academic entry requirements Environmental Health major

A completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher award)

with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4 (on QUT's 7 point scale)

in any discipline; and a minimum of 48 credit points (equivalent of one semester full time study) of basic science units that were completed at the bachelor degree level and must include:

12 credit points (one subject) of foundation chemistry; and
36 credit points in other science areas (e.g. microbiology physics anatomy and physiology life science).

Pathway leading to Master of Health Safety and Environment (Environmental Health)

Graduate Certificate in Communication for Health (Environmental Health) (1 semester) February or July entry leading to PU80 Master of Health Safety and Environment (Environmental Health) (4 semesters) February or July entry.

Nursing major

A completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher award)

with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4 (on QUT's 7 point scale)

in nursing; or a completed recognised associate degree in nursing and one of year work experience as a registered nurse (or equivalent).

The Master of Advanced Practice Nursing does not lead to registration as a nurse in Australia. Graduate Certificate in Communication for Health (Nursing) (1 semester) into:

Public Health major

Occupational Health and Safety

A completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher award)

What you will learn

This course is intended primarily as a pathway for international students who want to study Master of Advanced Practice Nursing (NS80) Master of Public Health (PU86) or Master of Health Safety and Environment (PU80) but have not met the English language requirements for direct entry. Graduate Certificate in Communication for Health is designed to help students acquire postgraduate level knowledge and skill in a specialist Health discipline while developing competency in English language and academic literacy.

You will be studying two Communication units at the QUT College to enhance your academic English language skills and two Health units at the faculty from your chosen degree.

Study on campus as a QUT student with access to all services and facilities across the University.
On completion with the required results receive a guaranteed place in one of the approved Health degree with up to 1 semester of advanced standing.
Develop academic English language skills and progress without the need to take another IELTS test (or equivalent).
