The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician must be completed as part of an apprenticeship, and upon successful completion, allows participants to work as a qualified electrician. Apprentices will learn through a combination of employment and block training at North Regional TAFE.
This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises. It includes ERAC requirements for an 'Electrician's licence'.
Participants will learn how to:
Fabricate, dismantle, assemble of utilities industry components
Fix and secure electrotechnology equipment
Solve problems in d.c. circuits, low voltage a.c. circuits, electromagnetic devices and related circuits
Solve problems in single and three phase low voltage machines and electrical apparatus and circuits
Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications
Apply environmental and sustainable procedures in the energy sector
Install low voltage wiring and accessories
Install appliances, switchgear and verify compliance and functionality of low voltage general electrical installations
Develop and connect electrical control circuits
Trouble-shoot and repair faults in low voltage electrical apparatus and circuits
