Graduate Diploma
Note: This programme is covered by the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Amendment Order 2021. Students are required to provide details of their vaccination status on enrolment.
The Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching includes 16 weeks of practicum placements in schools and/or early childhood settings. In line with the Government's announcement that all teachers and education workers - including student teachers on practicum - must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 1 January 2022, acceptance into the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching in 2022 is now conditional on being fully vacccinated for COVID-19. If selected into the programme, you will be asked to provide Massey University with evidence of your vaccination status before the programme starts and to give consent for this information to be shared with practicum settings. Details of the evidence required and how this will be managed will be provided on selection into the programme.
Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching will be eligible to apply for teacher registration and provisional certification with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. As a provisionally certificated teacher, you'll be qualified to teach in one of the following settings: New Zealand kindergartens and early childhood; primary; or secondary schools.
Unfortunately no credit can be granted towards the Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning due to the specialised nature of this qualification.
