The Foundation Certificate in Agriculture is a programme of study for those who are interested in studying agriculture, but do not have the entry requirements to be accepted directly into the Diploma in Agriculture.

Entry requirements

To enter the Foundation Certificate in Agriculture you will have successfully completed one of the following:

  • 12 weeks of farm employment, or
  • a level 3 NZQF Certificate that is agriculture-related.

You may also be required to attend an interview.

What you will learn

You'll gain knowledge and appreciation of pasture and crop production and management. Animal production, health and management as well as soil management are some of the skills you'll learn in this programme.

When you graduate, you'll have the ability to communicate about practical agriculture.

You'll also gain an appreciation of agriculture's role in the New Zealand economy.
