The two urological and continence nursing specialist courses focus on the pathological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches to bowel and bladder health issues, the psychosocial impact of urological disorders and incontinence and the development of a specialist role in urological and continence nursing practice. They are designed to give students the opportunity to examine contemporary urological and continence nursing and to advance their knowledge and skills in this specialist area of practice.
The Urology and Continence A course will focus on promoting urological and continence health, therapies for common urological and continence health issues and development as a urological and continence clinical specialist. Building upon the knowledge and skills gained in Urological and Continence A, the Urology and Continence B course will focus on genitourinary cancers and common urological and continence health issues throughout the life span.
Each course is equivalent to 15 credit points at the postgraduate level (AQF levels 8/9). Completion of the courses in this format will enable you to apply for advanced standing into postgraduate studies in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University.
