About this course

Engineers design the world around us. Seeking a career in the fast-evolving field of engineering? You've come to the right place. Get ready to design your dream career.

La Trobe's Master of Engineering offers four advanced specialisations to choose from, allowing you to graduate with the degree title that aligns most closely to your intended career path:

- Master of Engineering (Civil)

- Master of Engineering (Electronics)

- Master of Engineering (Manufacturing)

- Master of Engineering (Telecommunications and Networks)

Prepare to take on engineering roles in a variety of sectors, from construction and transport to technology and education.

Your degree focuses on the advanced skills you'll need for a successful career - including design, engineering management and innovation. You'll also learn how to adapt to the emerging technologies that are changing the engineering landscape.

Shape your qualification to target your career goals. Choose from a range of electives to enhance your chosen specialisation in either civil, electronic, manufacturing or telecommunication and network engineering. You'll have the opportunity to work on a range of different projects - previous students have worked in construction, programming, web security and advanced physics.

Graduate with the skills and knowledge to design intelligent engineering solutions to the challenges of the future.

You'll learn:

  • Engineering management
    • Build your engineering management skills across business strategy, legal, marketing, management and finance to lead projects, motivate teams and drive success.

  • Design and innovation
    • Address engineering challenges through research, ideation and revolutionary product design.

  • Risk analysis
    • Develop processes to identify and evaluate potential risks to mitigate project failures and avoid poor decision-making in engineering processes.
  • Digital communication systems
    • Learn the principles and techniques of modern digital communication systems for wired and wireless applications.
  • Computer-aided engineering
    • Equip yourself with the latest concepts in data and software to model, analyse and implement effective engineering systems.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9 - Masters Degree.
