About this course

Get a head start on your journey in sport.

La Trobe's Diploma of Sport Coaching and Development, offered at the Carlton College of Sport, is a unique one-year full-time program, delivered at Ikon Park, the home of the Carlton Football Club.

Designed to produce job-ready sport employees, the course is classified as a Level 5 qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework. Comprising 8 core subjects, coursework will cover an extensive range of disciplines, including sport and exercise science, coaching, management, talent identification, and sport marketing.

To complement academic and practical content, students will also have the opportunity to hear from a range of industry leaders, including Chris Judd, Stephen Silvagni and Brianna Davey - an exclusive advantage of the Carlton College of Sport program.

Students enrolled in the Diploma program will also undertake a non-academic sport program (strength and conditioning, nutrition, other sport-related activities) with the Carlton Football Club.

With access to elite athletes, coaches, high performance staff and mentors, the program allows students to immerse themselves in the Club and obtain exclusive insights to events, community activations, facility operations, fan engagement and match-day protocols.

Upon completion, the course also provides a full year's credit towards the Bachelor of Sport Coaching and Development and may provide credit in other allied health and sport management courses.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 5.
