You'll learn how to manage classrooms, design class plans, and create a safe and engaging learning space for your students.

You'll develop two curriculum specialisations that you'll take straight into the classroom when you graduate. Choose from electives in science, languages, arts, psychology, physical education and many more.

Sample course structure

To qualify for the award of Bachelor of Education (Secondary), students must complete a total of 480 credit points across 4 years.

Students wishing to complete a combination of the following specialisations are advised to seek advice from the course coordinator as you will be required to complete additional credit points above that of the normal course requirements:

  • Science
  • English writing
  • Visual arts
  • LOTE

Completing a combination of the above will result in additional time and cost to you, the student.

Year 1 requires the completion of 120 credit points including:

  • 90 credit points from chosen Core
  • 30 credit points from chosen Major discipline specialisation

Year 2 requires the completion of 120 credit points including:

  • 45 credit points from chosen Core
  • 45 credit points from chosen Major discipline specialisation
  • 30 credit points from chosen Minor discipline specialisation

Year 3 requires the completion of 120 credit points including:

  • 45 credit points from chosen Core
  • 15 credit points from chosen Major discipline specialisation
  • 30 credit points from chosen Minor discipline specialisation
  • 30 credit points from chosen Curriculum method 1

Year 4 requires the completion of 120 credit points including:

  • 30 credit points from chosen Capstone
  • 30 credit points from chosen Core
  • 30 credit points from chosen Curriculum method 2
  • 30 credit points from chosen Electives
