About this course

La Trobe's Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education allows early childhood educators to upgrade to an Early Childhood Teacher qualification.

This course is designed to fit with your working life - it's delivered online with no on-campus attendance required, so you can combine your work in early childhood with flexible studies.

This two-year program includes 180 credit points of advanced standing for the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and relevant work experience. You will complete a further 60 credit points for the Associate Degree qualification.

Course content is delivered through online learning. The online curriculum makes use of the latest technology to give you the complete experience. It includes virtual classrooms and meeting spaces, video and webinars, online learning modules and mobile learning apps.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 6 - Associate Degree.

To qualify for the award of Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, students must complete a total of 240 credit points across 2 years.

Students will be awarded 180 Credit Points of Credit for completion of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and
Care or equivalent (Entry Requirement). Students will need to complete the following four subjects to obtain this award: EDU1CDL, EDU1HPC, EDU2ULD and EDU2LLC.

Year 1 requires the completion of 120 credit points including:

Year 2 requires the completion of 120 credit points including:

  • 120 credit points from chosen Core
