My name is Yamini Nair. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from University of Mumbai and also completed my Master of technology in Electronics Engineering with majors in Telemedicine. While interning with Foundation of Innovative New Diagnostics for their project 'TB FREE INDIA' I became acquainted to the field of public health and developed my interest into the same.
To me, public health is about advocating for all people to experience their full potential. I was inspired by the idea that work in public health has the potential to improve thousands — and even millions — of lives. The most rewarding experience of public health for me has been the collaboration: Public health brings together communities, researchers, and policymakers to make the world a better place.
Back in my home country India, they do not offer biomedical engineers a course in Public Health. Getting an admission at Curtin University was a dream come true for me.
A degree in Public Health will help me manage the delivery of health care informatics and also help me understand how these can improve overall health. Public health has helped me broaden my perspective about health. It has helped me understand health in a far better way than I had hoped!
My public health qualification will not only help me get jobs offer with competitive salaries, but it will also provide me a chance to improve lives and help communities overcome obstacles. Moreover, jobs in the field of Public Health present opportunities to travel and aid communities abroad. The developing world faces many public health challenges, including the physical and mental effects of war, disease, and malnutrition, and multilingual individuals who possess a public health degree often flourish in positions overseas. Also, working alongside local governments and agencies to extend residents' lifespans and improve their overall quality of life, is also a interesting aspect of public health jobs which interests me.
