Workplace Human Factors Minor

Human factors is the science of people at work. It is concerned with understanding human capabilities and limitations, and applying this knowledge to areas such as the design of: equipment, systems, tools, workplace environment, and work processes. As a result, this is a multidisciplinary area, which may include engineers, designers, managers, and psychologists. This minor will address the goals of enhancing safety, reducing and managing errors, enhancing occupational comfort, and increasing productivity.

• Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of fundamental science, mathematics, data analytics, information science, sustainability principles and/or computing, GC1
• Solve workplace human factor problems of industrial and societal significance via innovative and creative design or research, working individually or in teams, GC2
• Select and use current and emerging technologies to develop and communicate effective and innovative solutions to complex problems, GC3
