This one-year, part-time course is an invitation to apply and hone your passion for writing - whether you are aiming to publish your first novel or a collection of poetry, or craft compelling narratives for digital media.

During your studies you'll gain the theoretical insights and practical skills that create a strong foundation to advance your education and career in the literary arts.

You'll learn about:

  • creative writing fundamentals, from constructing narratives to developing characters and settings that captivate readers
  • critical analysis and creative synthesis, enabling you to foster original ideas and critique yours and others' work
  • digital literacy in creative contexts
  • using technology to enhance your writing process and publish your work in various formats
  • international literary standards and the global landscape of publishing and storytelling to position your work for a worldwide audience
  • cultural sensitivity, embedding respect for Indigenous values and perspectives in your writing, and enriching your narratives with diverse voices.

After completing this course, you will be eligible to apply to study for your Bachelor of Arts majoring in Creative Writing.
