About this course

Outline Outline

The mining geoscience specialisation builds on the earth science concepts with a focus on enhancing knowledge and application of geoscience to the mineral resource sector. It introduces concepts and practises required for mineral exploration and mining geoscience, and includes laboratory, fieldwork and data visualisation using industry standard software to explore for resources.

What you'll learn
  • have demonstrated further and expanded knowledge and understanding in the Earth Science Major or the Mining Major field of study that is typically at a level that, whilst supported by advanced textbooks, includes some aspects that will be informed by knowledge of the forefront of Mining Geoscience, G1
  • can apply their further and expanded knowledge and understanding in a manner that indicates a professional approach to their Earth Science Major or their Mining Major, and have competencies typically demonstrated through devising and sustaining arguments (to both specialist and non-specialist audiences) and solving problems within Mining Geoscience, including using digital technologies, GC2, GC3
  • can gather and interpret relevant data within the Earth Science Major or the Mining Major field of study to inform judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific, or ethical issues, including being aware of the diversity of international perspectives associated with the Earth Science Major or the Mining Major field of study, and how these impact upon the practice of the Earth Science Major or the Mining Major, GC4, GC5
  • display a high standard of professional behaviour, including effective time management, both independently and as a team member, GC6
